Shanks is a fairly young male featuring his signature red hair and triple scar across his left eye. He often wears a cape but not always and prefers to use only his right arm in combat, hiding his left behind his cape. But when faced with a strong opponent he will use both hands. Shanks has great kenjutsu skills and always carries his sword on his right hip, drawing it only when he feels he has found a worthy opponent.
Personality: Shanks is a very laid back person most of the time but when the situation calls for it he adopts a very serious nature. He has shown himself to be a very complex person, when insults and even food are thrown at him he can just laugh it off but if anyone would insult his friends he would never forgive them.

Background Info.
History: Shanks was born into a poor fishing family in a small coastal village on the border between the Fire and Tea countries. His family was one of the few left with the Uzumaki bloodline. He consistently worked with his parents fishing up until the age of about 16, at this time he became fascinated with the pirates that would pass through the village. So it was then that he decided he would one day become a pirate, he trained every day available with his grandfathers sword while maintaining his duties at home. When Shanks was 19 a fire broke out in his home which resulted in both of his parents being killed and Shanks barely escaping alive. After this incident Shanks felt that there was nothing left for him at home so he pursued his dream of becoming a pirate. He joined a crew as a cabin hand and over the next few years he became stronger and wiser all the time plundering the nearby Nagi and O'uzu islands on a regular basis. It was when Shanks 7th year on the ship had come when the islands decided to rid themselves of the pirates for good by hiring the ninja services of the neighboring Water country.
When the water ninja attacked Shanks ship he was no match for their ninjutsu skills and fled the ship, swimming the 2km to the Fire country. Shanks vowed revenge on the water country but knew he had no hope to defeat even their weakest ninja so he began his journey to Konohagakure, it took him a few days to get anywhere close to Konoha and it was when he was passing close by the Wave country that he encountered the demon brothers, Gōzu and Meizu. Recognizing them as ninjas of the land of water Shanks attacked them but was abruptly defeated and he received the scar over his eye. Knowing Shanks would soon be dead by their poison the brothers moved on in search of their "target". Shanks knowing he would soon be dead if not treated he ran the two days and nights to Konoha and collapsed in the front gate. He awoke two days later in the konoha hospital and was told he was just hours from death when he arrived. After three days in hospital Shanks has been released and is currently searching for a sensei or senpai to teach him the secret arts of ninjutsu...
