so im kinda desperate for a new song to listen to, just cant find one, so maybe you guys can help out
I'm about to throw you a string of YouTube:

Interesting how I ran across this band... I opened up Zune, and I saw in my recommendations this band with an album cover consisting of a nuclear fireball and the Greek Omega. Simplistic logic dictated that the album had to be equally awesome. It proved to be sound logic in this instance.

And then we have Opeth... They are kind of their own genre.

If you don't like the song... just wait a minute, it will be in a completely different style and genre before you know what happened.

And THAT - is a song worthy of the title "Grand Conjuration."

Then we venture into Nightwish:

Ever Dream is a classic of theirs.

And, for the next two, I will pair them with an appropriate AMV... because I've come to consider the particular AMVs to be the best embodiment of the song:

... and as if they were written for Evangelion:

There is one other "Classic Nightwish" song that needs to be mentioned. There are many that are worthy of mention - many that are great to listen to (and they are not hard to find). But there is one that stands above all, one that represents all that Nightwish was:

And with that, we transition into Nightwish with Annete Olzon:

Now, this music video is said to have played off of the rumor amongst the fan community that the record company was seeking to replace the band members with young women (or something along those lines - I can't say I quite followed the gossip).

Obviously, the song was written in reference to the loss of their former lead vocalist.

Annette really had trouble fitting into the band's legacy until she finally got some songs that were really written for her voice, however:

The Finnish roots of the band certainly come out in "I Want My Tears Back."

Though their typical "epic length" production departed from the previous trend (set back with FantasMic, Beauty of the Beast, Ghost Love Score, etc)"

This song is what I have chosen to be Hanabi Hyuuga's theme song in my fan-fiction. It almost perfectly embodies her mentality, being raised under the influence of her father (paralleled with the "old oak" in the song).

Regardless... that album marked another change in Nightwish after a mid-tour dispute led to the departure of the lead vocalist, Annette Olzon.

Now... when I first stumbled across "After Forever" - I instantly wondered what it would be like to have their lead vocalist (Floor Jansen) sing with Nightwish. I never seriously expected to see that come to pass. Never-the-less... I return from deployment to have my mind blown:

No ****. Floor picks up to tour with Nightwish mid-tour. It's currently unclear whether she will stay in the lead vocalist role... but the response to her arrival on the scene has been overwhelmingly supportive.

I'm honestly torn, though, on which of the many recordings of her singing Ghost Love Score at different performances to show... obviously, none of them are ideal as they are taken with cell phones... her first performance of it was awesome - and it's only gotten better as time goes on (but there's something about that first time...):

9:15 is where Floor single-handedly blew the minds out of the audience, and this has become her signature on her performance of that Nightwish Classic.

So, my advice is to keep an eye on what happens with Floor in Nightwish over the next few months. Classic Nightwish, Annette Nightwish - Floor handles it all (though some of the atmosphere is lost with Annette - Imaginaerum was written with her light, airy voice in mind - and Floor's more womanly sounding voice kind of loses that edge of charm on the songs - though she's a superior vocalist). Logic would seem to indicate that album productions with Floor would be absolutely orgasmic, but that would be a bit much to ask for.

Obviously, a bit of a fan-crush has developed - so my opinion is biased. But I'm excited at the possibilities of what could come out of that group. Though Floor does have a responsibility to her band, Re-Volt.

.... If you liked any of those songs - searching for more songs by that band would be a fruitful endeavor.

I'll also leave with mention of Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Flogging Molly, and Trans Siberian Orchestra as groups to look into. I've already got a pretty involved list of videos, so I'll leave it at that.
