Alright, I know people hate whenever someone brings up a comparison of Naruto to DBZ. But, here it goes anyways.

I immediately thought of the Tree of Might from DBZ.

So the tree feeds off chakra/energy of people (instead of the planet), in order to bear a fruit that will give the eater of the fruit immense power.

Of course there are distinct differences, but at the core it seems so similar. What do you think? =D

Non-canon movie.
OT: Kishi looked up to Toriyama so I don't think he'd take inspiration from something Dragonball related that Toriyama didn't make. I think he based it off of Christianity/Judaism because of the whole forbidden fruit thing.

This is actually a good parallel, since the tree in DBZ also needed to be destroyed and had a fruit that can boost power.

So where's the parallelism in this? I can't find. Btw,he took inspiration from various religion.

Yes :) But the tree in the garden of eden didn't ravage other's energy around it to produce its fruit as far as I'm aware.

So which came to Kishi first: The idea to create a tree that parasitically steals energy to produce a fruit of power, or the idea to make Kaguya and the fruit a sort of reference to Eve/Garden of Eden? Knowing that could be key to knowing if religion and DBZ inspired Kishi in any way.

So where's the parallelism in this? I can't find. Btw,he took inspiration from various religion.

Well yes, many aspects of Naruto are based off of various religions. Shows in general that typically have a fruit bearing world tree are guaranteed to have drawn from religion(s). But, Kishi didn't solely draw inspiration just from religion to create certain elements in his manga.

What I'm saying is that Kishi was a major DBZ fan I know (wiki says he started really getting into it in elementary school).

The similarity: Giant parasitic-like tree that feeds off of life in order to produce a fruit that will give great power to (insert power hungry villain here), both trees seem fit into that unique category.

Do you think he might have took a liking to that idea in DBZ, and then from there drawn inspiration and developed it into his own original style and idea that fits into the story as we see it today? Or does it have nothing to do with it do you think?
