Okay I am not a citizen of USA but I have been following the elections closely. And I can say that this is the first time in my remembrance that the presidential candidates for white house were not greatly liked by the public and their actions were heavily scrutinized. I mean compared to the last two elections the candidates ie Trump and Hillary definitely lacked the charisma, charm and poise if we compare them to Obama and Romney or going before that to Bush and Obama. But what surprises me the most is Trump's actual victory because the what he said in his speeches was outrageous and scandalous. Also given the accusations piled against him Hillary was a clean figure to say the least. I don't exactly know how the election system works in USA but i saw and tried to understand the results and i saw that people's votes were in Hillary's favor while the senators votes were in Trum's favour......So can someone explain to me the dynamic of these elections and the prominent reasons for Trump's shock victory

I ask myself the same thing, how do you just become the president elect when the whole media is against you, when people talk so bad about you and even the president himself is against you.

I mean sure... he won the most states as shown, but still.

My guess is they did it because he said the system was rigged so now he looks like a fool? or maybe because Hillary's sick? or maybe it was convenient due to Russia tensions? tbh idk maybe he just won fair and square and that's all there is to it, maybe i'm just overthinking and should take the tin hat off.

Hillary won the popular vote because of winning wide margins in huge cities. Trump won the electro college becuase of winning large margins in huge states as well as taking some states from Hillary.

This guy does a great job of explaining why Trump won the election. No shenanigans, no semantics, no arrogant gloating. Just facts.

I think the Americans are so bored, so they decided to try out something new. To let America be led by a dump.

You should say half of America, half of us wanted Hilary and the other half wanted Trump, but somehow Trump is the president even though Hilary got the popular vote. But the electoral college allows for states that are underrepresented to become more represented. Which is why, Trump won. But shit wouldn't be like that in this scenario.

Speaking as someone who isn't a Republican or Democrat there are a lot of reasons why he won?

There were a ton of people undecided because neither candidate was great. The reason why most of these undecided went with Trump is because he's the "Anti" Republican.

People are very tired of both Republicans and Democrats. They see them as being basically the same thing with slight difference. In the end both parties care more about furthering their own careers then the Country or it's people.

People saw Trump as not being apart of that click. And also people think that a bunch of White Racist people voted for him? That's just not the case. Most people voted for him because he was promising getting jobs back. Hillary and the Dem's were focused on "Feelings" but feelings don't put food on the table.

And where Democrats messed up royally is Bernie Sanders was also that guy. He was basically the Anti Democrat which is one of the reasons they didn't get behind him. But if they had I guarantee you he would have won.

And also a huge reason why Trump won is because the media. The media was so Anti Trump and biase it made it seem like Hilary was going to win easily. And that made a lot of people who would have voted for Hillary say "Well she's going to win by a landslide anyways why should I even vote?" Because Trump actually got 1.7 Million fewer votes then Mitt Romney had when he lost.

If all these dumb idiots that are protesting right now would have all voted she probably would have won? If the Media would have stayed impartial like they are supposed to be then maybe she would have won? And if the dumb Democrats would have went with Bernie Sanders or even Joe Biden they probably would have won?

All these Democrats and Media who are mad right now look in a mirror because that's who's to blame for why your candidate lost.
