That explanation says "right before attacks lands". Neji has no reaction feats to react let one keep up with gated Lee to stop him before attack lands.

Gaara's used his sand to defend..same way neji uses his chakra to defend

I think you underestimate his Sand Armor and remember that when Lee closed his eyes from the pain of the gates - Gaara used i think a sand replacement technique,otherwise Gaara's Sand Armor would of been brocken through

It would be just like when Sasuke fought Lee but worse, he could see his movements but couldn't react fast enough. Not to mention Neji wouldn't have had intel if they had fought, which gives Lee even more of an advantage.

im assuming u did not read thread?..they are rivals,if the fought in the prelims wen neji would surely underestimate lee and wen he had no intel/defence against lee den yes but after prelims kishi made sure to put back the rivals on neutral turf by givin neji the chakra shield
