This way peaple are going to make the same mistakes over and over again.. in my starting months of creating threads on the narutobase i got quite a few of them locked for reasons i did not find out untill later when i learned the rules.
It's not that much work and it would really improve the feel of a lock being justified (or not:p)

now i agree that it is good to read the rules but the way it is right now your just left completely blank with your thread locked/removed is not the way to go imo.. if there would be more feedback, peaple would feel more at peace with the remove and it would create a better atmosphere..

don't forget that alot of the base members are actually kids.. you can't expect them to just go "oh ok, my thread was removed, lets go be rational and check the rules instead of causing havoc because we feel mistreated (naruto :p)

well.. I see your point, it's not stupid, but the thing is we don't need that. People just need to read the global rules before making a thread, so there's no need to have closed threads after reading the global rules. People just need to read the global rules and the rules of the section they're posting in it, so they will know why their thread is closed. No need for a lock thread message, or else members won't even take the effort to read the rules of the section, and/or the global rules.
If your thread is closed, just look through the rules, and you'll see what mistake you made

well, actually you aren't just left completely blank, a Mod would never remove/lock your thread with no reason, he only removes/locks it because you broke a rule, that's pretty clear. You know that, so the first thing you'll do is re-check the rules than you should be able to see what mistake you made.

and the kids here aren't 6 years old, here they're old enough to know what the rules are, doesn't matter whether you're 13 or 45, if you signed up in NB, you should know and follow the rules, if so you're thread would never get locked/removed, and if it happens, re-check the rules and see which rules you broke.
it's very simple

I really think there's no need for a "lock thread message"

hhm sorry but i dissagree.. sometimes threads get closed for the flaming going on in the comments and the person will think it was his doing that shut the thread down.. ive seen this happening to one of mine :p

No. There are over 100, 000 members on narutobase who partake in the forum and less than 30 staff members to moderate the sections, if they stop and issue out a detailed explanation for each and every thread they close, this will not only slow down thier work rate but it also means time lost on doing things which could have been more meaningful, if threads have been closed its because they do not abide by the global rules, you can always privately try contacting such moderators and ask what happened.

well, wouldn't that be obvious to know why your thread got closed? if there's a flame war or a lot of spam, ofcourse the mods will close it.
And also, before members ask why their thread got closed, they should also read this:

indeed, it will be only time consuming as they are exactly (searches it up and comes back) 25 mods and 153,981 members
and also before asking the mods what happened they expect that you have at least (as I said above) read the global rules, the rules of that section and read this

i dunno.. closing one thread and leaving a comment or removed 9 posts from someone that felt misjudged/treated seems like an easy trade-off.. secondly they could just have some automated messages.. they use them all the time at custommer services.. it'd take no more than 2-3 extra seconds:)

Just use logic. If you post something you willingly know will attract trolls and flamers then prepare yourself on it being locked and quite possibly, an infraction or worse. If something isn't clear to you then it is because of how you respond to others, wrong section, or because the thread wasn't really going anywhere relevant or enlightening like religion threads as an example. In other words, deal with it and move on.

/end thread

EDIT: I apologize if you took that as rude but it is merely the truth. Though inconvenient it may be it is nonetheless that, the truth.

Most of the threads get closed because they are violating one or more of the forum rules. There are sticky threads to help you out. Please read this:

Also keep in mind that:

* Posts in violation of the NarutoBase Global Forum Rules can be edited or deleted at a moderator's discretion.

*If the thread itself is in violation of forum rules or too many posts in it are breaking rules in one way or another, the thread are closed or deleted. For example:
-If a discussions leads to users becoming too personally involved, as in cases of heated debates, flaming and trolling etc. - the thread may be closed without further notice at a moderator's discretion or may be instantly deleted. Warnings/infractions will be given along with it when deemed fit.

*Similarly, cross-posting identical threads in different forum/sections and duplicate/similar threads on any topic may result in deletion of the copied threads, or with the threads being merged.

* Threads in which no real discussion is going on just random banter etcs are closed as well as we prefer to give threads with more mature and relevant discussions a better chance.

I message users sometimes if they are new or rarely post to let them know the problems but it's practically not possible for us to do it all the time. Always read all the forum rules attentively and check out if the thread was breaking any of them or fell in to above written criteria in some way if you do not understand why a thread was closed.

If you still don't understand it you can message a mod or gmod as to why it was closed.
