the first time we were shown the reper death seal was back in part 1 when hiruzen used it to seal orochimaru

i have re-watched that episode , and hiruzen initially wanted to seal orochimaru completely ,but then due to factors like a sword through his back , a brief high class encounter with orochimaru , exhaustion due to old age age and extended battles with a 30-40 % powerfull hashirama and tobirama and not to forget orochimaru himself , hiruzen resorted to sealing only a part of the soul [which was said to be his hands meaning no ninjutsu coz of lack of hand seals]

During the sealing process oro was able to fight the death god pulling out his soul and we were shown that at certain points oro was able to pull back his soul from the grip of the reaper [ also aiding to this is the fact that hiruzen was dying anyway , as well was quickly deteorating physical and mental condit
ionSover the past few days i have seen a few comments from basers saying that rds can't be countered

but my question is if people r able to do wat oro did but succesfully [ i.e. pull back the soul from the reaper's grip ]
then wat will happen coz the reaper failed at it's task , so then will the person casting rds still have to pay with his life or will the reaper be obliged to perform the next deed for the caster for free or something like that ?

If the user fails to seal its target they still get sealed its not like the death god will offer them a freebee lol

Its also worth pointing out that since it took someone as powerful as oro to resist when hiruzen was on his death bed its safe to assume nobody else is going to break out of it anytime soon so the castor can rest easy as the events that led oro from escaping its clutches was very situational and will most likely never be repeated

I hope he next time he is summoned,,he will be pissed because of what happened and take everyone on the battlefield with him.

wat i'm asking is what happens when the death god doesnot accomplish his/her designated task surely when a technique involving such hig stakes there has to be some sort of protection like [insurance]

The Shinigami is a god. I don't think it cares if someone gets screwed over, he takes what he wants. I think that the contract between the person and the god involves the ability of the person to deal with souls. The agreement is probably I'll give you a little bit of my ability in exchange for your soul and whatever you get. It's like an investment where there is a high chance of yielding profit, but it's not definite.

I think another good question would be if someone does succeed in retrieving their soul, would they have the power to pull on the contracted's soul...you know, probably not since the deal's only between the god and the other moral. If he is a god, then I think he'd be able to eliminate most of the chances he'd get a bad deal (Orochimaru still got the contents out of his stomach, so there is a loophole).

Shoot, when Orochimaru actually comes to an end, he's going to be screwed. :snick:
