The rogue pipe bombing of the Boston Marathon worked because it was so simple and involved official citizens (I believe the two were, because they immigrated to the United States as children. They must have taken the citizenship test at some point in their lives). However, they did get caught mere days afterwards.

Why won't the North Korean attack on United States soil work? Because we are watching their asses 24/7 and, because their weaponry isn't too advanced, we can prevent it quite easily and then call the government out on it (because they like to beat around the bush when accused of gauging or attempting to gauge their military might).

--Well, considering it was a large, public event, it's a given that you're going to have some array of security around the premises just to make sure something doesn't happen and if so try to prevent and/or catch the criminal in action. The security was there regardless of knowledge of an attack.

--I don't know where this came from, but we are still a Representative Republic, where we vote for leaders to decide laws for us. Of course, our leaders are shifty, don't pay much attention to our needs even though they are supposed to "represent us", don't have much knowledge of their workplace in the first place, et cetera, but whose fault is it really?
