[Discussion] Really late to the party. Fairy Tail Question

I have been reading the manga, and watching the anime like crazy as of late.

So can someone tell me one thing.

Why does Gildarts have a twin in One Piece?

^ Yeah, why do Gildarts and Shanks look precisely the same? (including the missing arm, and there ridiculous strength?)

We're not Hiro or Oda

We can't tell you why. Pretty sure Oda had One Piece made way before Fairy Tail though. Fairy Tail is heavily inspired by Hiro's previous magic manga, Rave Master. Many current characters are inspired from his original work, looks and personality and all. As far as I'm aware though, there isn't a character in Rave that was like Gildarts.

So, I'm thinking Shanks was inspiration for Hiro to write/draw Gildarts.

Because Hiro copied a lot of things from One Piece.
