As stated in the title, through the length of the series, people tend to develop and change.
Some for the worst and then they eventually die. Others for the better and eventually gain meanings for their lives.
Obito had a roller coaster of emotions but eventually died doing a good action. Still that doesn't excuse him of his prior actions and what indeed makes a better person is admitting it. Of course trolling is fine and also speaking the truth is also fine (stating facts) but don't let your emotions of a character blind you from their faults.
Naruto as a child also did mistakes but eventually grew into the Hokage he is now. Even he is still learning as a father and as a Kage with new ways to increase his maturity, wisedom and character.
A factor from all of this is that some people are also better developed then others.
The fact that a person is a good character or is a better character then another character doesn't mean that the other character can't later improve but rather it also means that the good character from the start was steadfast in their wellness.
This relates to people defending a character even though they were selfish before. Then they showcase present scenarios to counter a past argument. That doesn't make sense.
Be wary of the setting, time and place. Everything is in segments and everything can be dissected in separate occasions.
