Itachi, Danzo, Hashirama, and madara. these characters are presented as characters who have actually done alot and while there actions have not always been right, they have done alot in the most realistic of cases.
-
Danzo had to move and make choices that were wrong, and yet he did what needed to be done. (I am not including when he sat back and watched nearly the entire clan get slaughtered or when he murdered the messanger or tried to mind control the 5 kage, or kill naruto)
-
Itachi- he knew that the fourth great ninja war would arupt had his clan attacked, he knew what had to be done, and so after being manipulated by the elders he still commited a unjust action, so he could save his brother.
-
Hashirama- even though there were enemies all around he still killed and killed again, drawing much bloodshed, all to bring peace to the world, he didn't just suck his thumb and shout "believe it" he took life after life after life
-
Madara-He understood to bring peace he had to make sacrifices. He killed many people who were unsuspecting, and made war to his hearts content.
-
If you follow real world history these four would be noted as well counted battle generals who wanted nothing more then loyalty to their clan.
-
I personally enjoy these stories, because it is a taste of realism in the manga, in real life if you went up to an enemy solider and yelled, "believe it!" they would kill you on the spot.
-
I know these characters don't follow a moral code and have done alot of wrong. I mean Itachi murdering his clan, Danzo ordering the execution of countless tens of thousands of innocent people, or willing and stand by and watch nearly the entire hidden leaf get obliterated, or Hashirama willing to kill thousands of people for peace, or madara willing to wage war and not stop even when reason for fighting had been forgotten.
-
What I also like is at least in Itachi and Hashirama's sake is that they knew their transgressions and were willing to spend the rest of their lives making ammends. Itachi did so by sentencing himself to death after he killed his clan, spied on the akatsuki, kept the akatsuki from attack konoha for every second he was alive, thanks to his deal with Obito. Hashirama taught peace and maintained order in the world so that every life he took wouldn't be in vain, and that their can be peace in the world.
-
Itachi teaches that when evil must be done to eradicate evil, there must be punishment for commiting such a evil, that is why he sentenced himself to death, and lived a life of pain and sorrow. as Tobi said, " he took hatred in the place of glory"
-
anyway I am rambling what do you think? I am not saying these characters are the best things since sliced bread, but what they did do is bring about a segment of realism to the manga
