Interesting point... he was a little emotional...
and the fact that he wanted a body of an uchiha is also interesting...as if it was a prerequisite for something.

I think I figured it out, finally, after reading again the Kage's summit chapters.
Probably Orochimaru have been hired by Danzo not to destroy the Leaf, but the Hiruzen's Leaf. The reason is to put an end to Hiruzen's teachings, that in their minds have weakened the village.
So, in a cruel way of acting, the final reason was a good reason: to stregthen the Hidden Village of Leaf!
