No not really a Keane vs Vieria debate, rather a Gerrard vs Lampard vs Keane vs Vieria debate. Though I'd pick Vieria over Keane myself.
I don't think Gerrard and Lampard should even be considered in this competition. Both Keane and Vieria are far above them when it comes to being captain fantastic. Gerrard and Lampard are good midfielders and I respect them for that, but when it comes to captainship, just like I said earlier no competition whatsoever.
I think you're a little biased toward Keane, being a Man utd fan. When I say aggression I mean tackling, marking and defending.
Well I can just turn the tables and say you are underrating him, just because you hate Manchester United?
No point in calling each other biased buddy, because I know where to keep your personal liking aside and analyze stuff.
My bad, I thought you are talking about his aggressive behavior. Also yes, he was aggressive when it came down to tackling, marking and defending, but I don't see how that is bad or implication of bad captain. His style of leading his team was different. There are two types of leader, one is 'diplomatic leader', who is team man and other one is 'cowboy type leader'. He was of second type, but at the same type he had that passion for united.
Now I agree that Roy motivates his teammates, but so does the other 3, and on a higher level too TBH. They are all big game players, especially Gerrard and Lampard.
Higher level? You are kidding, don't you?:|
Gerrard is phenomenal player, there is no meaning in denying that, but great captain? No. Otherwise Liverpool would have won more amount of trophies than they did under his reign, same is true for England. Now do I need to bring stats of what United did under Keane's reign? I know Liverpool fans will always say that Gerrard single handeadly won matches for Liverpool and for England, but so did Roy Keane.
In 1999, guy literally brought back United into the competition against Juventus in ECL semi final, the team then went onto win final against Bayern Munich even when he was absent.

And don't tell me Gerrard never had good players with him. He had some really good players under his wings, mind you.
I read about that couple of days ago. It was about Pique's phone vibrating and Roy went crazy searching for it in the dressing room.
I don't see why, weird. Not the proper attitude you'd like to see from captain "fantastic".
I already countered it. It is his style of doing stuff, it was his 'style'.
