The anbu are known for their abilities to conceal themselves with their surroundings, perform surveillance, assassinations, & protecting the Hokage at certain times.

It's pretty good.

I'd choose:
Shikamaru - The brains. Also, he can set up a surprise attack with Kage Mane no Jutsu.
Shino - Can attack from a distance without revealing himself. Can drain the targets' chakra with them just thinking they have a bug infestation.
Ino - Can control the minds of the enemies and make them attack each other.
Suigetsu - Can spy on people in the water
Yamato - Disguises with Mokuton jutsu.

It's pretty good.

This actually does make for a pretty effective ANBU team. I would probably throw in Neji for the actual tracking an sight with Byakugan to detect hidden ambushes, exploding or sealing tag traps, etc.

other than that, your list is pretty solid.

Great team, although I think it's missing someone adept in long range Ninjutsu, it needs more elemental coverage.

My team would be

Naruto - To do all the work.
Hinata - To stare at Naruto while he does all the work.


I think this makes an effective team as they balance one another's core weaknesses and strengths.
