Rasengan vs Chidori

So, i was wondering that the rasengan is more powerful than the Chidori. Jiraiya said so too. Then why is that everytime Naruto uses the Rasengan and Sasuke uses the Chidori they cancel each other out? Shouldn't Naruto's Rasengan win ?

In both the cases the Rasengan caused more damage than chidori, then why doesn't it dominate the chidori in Naruto vs Sasuke clash ?Is it because Naruto does not want to hurt Sasuke?

THEORY:-I think that they cancel each other out because Naruto never intends to hurt Sasuke.If that's not the cause then it could be that despite the Rasengan being more powerful the chidori,does actually cancel it out. Rasengan takes shape manipulation to the highest possible level while Chidori has both shape and nature manipulation to a good level.
It could be possible that the Rasengan's higher power is canceled out by the Chidori's nature manipulation when the techniques clash.
i.e Max possible shape manipulation=Good shape+nature manipulation.

That´s not a question of power but of concentration. You see the large hole rasengan creates and assume that it has to be more powerful, but that´s not always the case. The whole point of chidori is to focus all the energy in one point, to make the thrust, which is the actual attack, more powerful. So it would make sense that it would only create a small hole, in fact the smaller the better. In case of rasengan it basically just repells in the direction of impact in a much larger area. So I think comparing these 2 jutsu is not really acurate, since they are designed to do different things.

It also has to do with the user's level of skill generally Sasuke has always been at a higher level of skill than Naruto when they clashed with each aforementioned jutus so there is that.

Naruto goes full power with his rasengan as well as Sasuke every time...Sasuk however pushed his chidori to a whole new level with senjutsu chakra at the valley and defeated Naruto without killing or piercing him.

Further continuation of this "he didn't want to hurt sasuke" is futile because Naruto says "I'll break all of your bones and drag you back if I have to."

true story but rasengan dont need hand sings, you can do 2 rasengans with 2 hands ,rasengan need less chakra and its more powerful

Kakashi was the only one that said rasengan would have killed Sasuke, Jiraiya on the other hand said chidori is to much for Sasuke too rasengan = chidori.
