Im a kakashi freak and <3 raikiri (lightning blade) but i think rasengan is a total badass :d u can basically combined it with any element and chidori cant do that.

Chidori seems to be the more versatile of two seeing as it can be shaped into weapon like forms to be used as a precise cutting tool and into crude forms that are more for "shocking" an opponent. Rasengan seems more powerful and destructive overall and can be infused with other chakra types. In a direct clash (chidori*normal* vs rasenshuriken*wind*) rasengan would win. I prefer chidori becuase of how many ways it could be used rather than uncontrolled destruction.

Rasengan because Rasenshuriken is based on rasengan, and other elements could be added to it, and Giant rasengan is cool, and rasengan planet too and many other rasengan-techs...

Rasengan takes little chakra but is basically only close combat oriented while Chidori takes much more chakra but can be used in may ways and needs Sharingan to complete some forms of it.
