Ao is basically a demented grandpa that has no idea of what he is doing.

He should be 70 years old by now, he needs to use guns because everytime he casts a jutsu his back hurts. The dude is just grumpy, old and bored with life. Next thing we know he is able to launch TBS from his bionic diapers.

Ao's beef with Konoha is simple. He wasn't accepted in the elderly home care, his dream was to be treated by some sexy young nurse that would give him a daily back rub and sponge baths.

Yeah I get you. There was no build up to him turning against everyone. Maybe he was always malicious and just hid it well and they're going to do flashback bullshit for like 2-3 chapters (months) to fill us in on why he's randomly against the shinobi world. I cringe at the idea because I doubt the writer will be able to pull it off well.
