Only had 5 hearts. He had his own plus the ones in the 4 mask.

Does it have to do with the 5 base elements.

If he took the heart of someone with a Kekkai genkai would he be able to use it?

Why is it only 5. Is that the max limit for the tech he uses?

Do the hearts have to be on him?

Does he have like a secret place to hide excess hearts like Obito with sharingan?

yes they hav to be on him so if ones destroyed he cant use the element
