Whenever I start Windows 7, I'm already using up about 1.8gb of 8,
Can someone please help why so much is used?

I always check how much ram i am using, and I like keeping it low :p

U can reduce the RAM usage by disabling useless background processes.

Go to Start, type "msconfig" and run it. Go to startup tab and choose the programs to be disabled from running at startup.

Easier way to do this, use CCleaner.

You can also disable useless services, by going to Computer Management.

Windows 7 requires a lot of RAM to run because of its service that maintains Windows Aero and the transparency of title bar, task bar.

Uninstall useless Programs and Update your AntiV. and Run a Full System Scan..... Some Virus might be Eating your Process.... or Start Task Manager Processes and Below Memory (Private Working Set) see which is eating your Process...

I've done that before and see no useless processes, All the processes that are running are no way near 1.8gb.
It could be the integrated Graphics that use it up as well as Windows.
