Uses
- Lightning can be infused into bladed weapons which increases the piercing power of the blade.
- Lightning can be used as a armour; a user of this release can fuse Raiton with his body, this would increase the shinobi's physical abilities such as toughness of the skin, improved speed and high level response. The best example of this is the 4th Raikage.
- It can paralyze a target, as lightning electrocutes the body.
- Lightning is strong against earth because it can easily travel through and break the ground apart. A master of lightning can cut through Earth very easily.
- Fire and lightning compliment each other, they are the strongest and most destructive elements of the five elements.
- Lightning combined with Water can be destructive, as Water conducts electricity, thus it would also increase the range of Lightning.
- When Natural Lightning is used, it is much more powerful and extremely fast, and Katon can be used to fuel the rain clouds, hence producing Lightning.
Weaknesses
- Lightning is weak against Wind, because it is a natural electrical insulator.
- It is also weak against Water, as Water is a good conductor of electricity, and in close range, when an opponent uses Suiton, countering it with Raiton would be deadly to the user, as Suiton conducts electricity.
Combinations
- Lightning combined with Water can be destructive, as Water conducts electricity, thus it would also increase the range of Lightning.
- Fire and lightning compliment each other, they are the strongest and most destructive elements of the five elements.
Kekkai Genkai
- It is a component of the Kekkai Genkai: Storm Release, which is fairly common in Kumo-nin.

As Sasuke finishes explaining whatever he knew about Raiton, he notices a moutain peak, as Sensei and himself land near the ground beside the peak. He notices 6 puppet bodies, embedded with chakra receivers on their bodies, almost as if they were piercings.
Sasuke then closes his eyes and calms his inner self down. He carefully thinks about the properties of lightning:
"Unpredictable, gives a special sound, highly reacts with water, travels very fast, sharp presence and piercing ability" , as he proceeds to build up chakra in his body.
Still thinking about the properties, he tries converting his inner chakra into that of lightning chakra. He starts to feel the hairs on his arms and legs rise up as the air around him becomes electrically charged. He could feel his muscles twitching as his chakra nature begins to transform. He could feel and hear a slight hum from the lightning chakra's intense vibration.
He then slowly transfers the chakra onto his right hand and he watches in wonder looking at the slightly blue coloured lightning bolts emerging from his hand. He then places his hand on Senpai's hand, as Senpai hurls out a small cry.

I'm relieved lol. Nice ava you got there.
Focusing on my raw chakra, I channel it throughout my body. When I've channeled enough, I, still maintaining my focus, perform nature manipulation on my raw chakra, which wants to escape my body, as I feel it rushes through my veins. The nature manipulation is successful and I channel some of my chakra in my hands releasing it in the form of wave of lightning bolts. I direct the bolts at one of the Pein dummies that you put forward. The Pein dummy shrieks in shock as the bolts hit him.
Building up chakra once more, I nature manipulate it to Raiton chakra, which I channel towards my hands. Once channeled, I perform the Boar→Ram→Snake→Horse→Dragon handseals and gather lightning in my hands. I then, release it from my hands as a violent stream of lightning towards the jacuzzi. Water, being a good conductor of electricity amplifies it, and the Pein bodies in the Jacuzzi are almost fried.
Maintaining the chakra flow in my body, I nature manipulate it to Raiton chakra, which I channel throughout my body. I release it from every single part of my body, in the form of an electric field. As I finish performing the jutsu, I see a Pein body coming towards me trying to ax kick me. He fails, however as he gets electrocuted due to the electric field surrounding my body.

I build up Raiton chakra again and this time, I raise my hand in front of me, keeping my fingers pretty straight, as I keep my hand in the shape of a sword. Channeling Raiton chakra towards my hands, I release it in the shape of a horn which releases bolts of lightning, which cut through the blades which protrude through the Pein bodies.
Keeping my left foot back and right foot forward, I take out my sword. I channel my Raiton chakra into it, through my hands, as I take caution to let it flow through the entire sword, as a bright blue lightning emerges from it, making a sharp noise. Using the chakra embedded in it, I make my sword levitate through the air, trying to maintain the chakra stability. Once it levitates, I create two more physical copies of it, using my chakra and then I launch them towards the three Pein clones, as if they were almost shurikens.
Excellent. Now generate bolts of lightning around your forearm. Then jump in the air and slam your hand on the ground as you land, releasing the lightning into and the across the ground around you. It should reach up to 5 meters away and shock anyone in the area.

( Raiton: Denki Railanshō ) - Lightning Release: Electric Discharge Palm

For this one perform the Rabbit, Dog, Boar, Ram, and Rat handseals before releasing a wave of electricity from your hands. It's best performed after water jutsu to electrify the water and increase it's power. Help me fry this crab.

Then discharge multiple lightning currents from these pillars to paralyze and electrocute whoever is trapped inside. Try it on this big guy.

Focusing on my raw Raiton chakra, I perform the Ram → Boar → Dog → Bird → Hare handseals and release my lightning chakra towards the ground, forcefully shapes the Earth into four solid pillars, which rise from the ground, releasing a barrage of lightning bolts to paralyze and electrocute the big multiheaded dog.
This time, I build up my Raiton chakra again, as I perform the Rabbit → Dog → Boar → Ram → Rat handseals in conjuction. Simultaneously, I channel my Raiton chakra towards my hands. The raw wave of electricity escapes my hands, as I target it toward your water dragon. Both the lightning and water flow in conjuction and fry the crab, electrocuting it badly.
Alright. Now you need to put your hands together and gather lightning within them. Then proceed to slam your hands on the ground and send an electrical current running through the ground to shock your target. The current need to be spit in order to strike separate targets. Try it out.

I place my hands together. I then meditate on my raw chakra, as I keep a picture of lightning in my mind. Using nature manipulation on my chakra, I manipulate it to Raiton chakra, as I feel the crackling and unusualness in my chakra. I then, slam my hands on the ground, as the crackling chakra escapes my hands, and flows through the ground. I see two Peins taunting me, as I shape manipulate my chakra into tendrils which split and race toward the Peins in separate directions, electrocuting them.
I raise my hands towards the air, as I gather Raiton chakra, generating lightning. I release the entirety of my energy, as I shape manipulate into a lightning bolt. Seeing Asura path fly haphazardly, I unleash it on him, as the lightning bolt hits him and electrocutes him.
I generate lightning around my palms. Using shape manipulation, I form into a rope, as I gradually extend it's length, simultaneously, while moving my hands around in a wavering manner, to attack the giant dog with a rope shaped lightning whip, effectively taming it.
Good enough. For this jutsu you will have to gather lightning in your dominant hand and release it in the shape of a hound. A cord-like bolt of lightning should be connecting your hand to the hound, allowing you to control it and direct it toward your target. I don't support dog-fighting but it has to happen.

I gather raw chakra throughout my body. Thinking about the properties of lightning and the sound it gives off, I perform nature manipulation to change my chakra nature into lightning. Then, I channel my chakra into my dominant hand(right hand), as I perform shape manipulation on it, creating a hound made of pure lightning, which I control with a string shaped bolt of lightning. Using my chakra to control it, I direct my hound at your hound.
Gathering lightning chakra, I channel it to my mouth. Performing shape manipulation just before releasing it, I convert it into a jagged beam of lightning. I then split into three parts which hit the three target boards with tremendous pace.
I build up raw Raiton chakra in my body. I focus on an image of myself in my subconscious. Keeping the image constant, I use my chakra to create a shadow clone of myself made up of pure lightning.
Not bad. Now i want you to to channel lightning chakra into a bladed weapon. Then use the lightning energy inside of the weapon and cause the weapon to vibrate at a high frequency. Along with the boost in power that comes with the infusion of lightning, the vibration should allow the weapon to cut and pierce through most materials. Slice this up for me.
