On one of his off-duty days, Shin decided to go to the tavern and relax. It had been a hard day of training and he was ready to relax, even if it was unaccompanied. As he approached the tavern counter, Shin noticed a rather beautiful woman was sitting down alone enjoying her drink. He decided to sit next to her but not quite close as he didn't want her to feel threatened. He sat down on a stool and asked for his regular drink. He noticed her face had looked like she had been crying. Feeling compassionate, Shin spoke to her:

"Hello young maiden. I know it isn't my business but I know you may feel quite alone and sad but life changes and better things await us. No one will think of you less if you decide to weep but remember that you can't cry for ever. Eventually you will have to go out and face the world. Keep your head up and cherish the memories you have of the people that inspired you to become the wonderful human being you are now."

Hearing his kind words, the woman began to open up to Shin. They talked and she shared a little of her story. Though he he felt she wasn't exactly revealing everything, Shin was grateful that she was secure enough to speak and felt like she was allowing herself to let her burdens lighten. As the night went on, and after more drinks, she spoke again to Shin:

"Thank you for your kind words, gentleman. I don't know who you are but I appreciate it. Normally I would have killed an idiot like you but I just wanted to talk to someone so you should consider yourself lucky. You might have what it takes, so I am going to give you a chance. Are you interested in training?"

"(Thinking then speaking) My name is Shin and of course I am interested. I would appreciate any knowledge you wish to share with me. But can you teach?"

"I am a renowned Sensei! I have taught many of your mentors, Shin! Of course I can teach!"

Shin felt so embarrassed for answering in such a manner. He apologized to the woman and offered to take her home. She agreed. As they approached her residence, he thanked her once more and waited until she was safe inside. He took her letter she had given him with directions to the spot he was to be trained at. He walked home and went to sleep.

========================================

After a good morning and a good breakfast, Shin headed to the place he was instructed to go and waited for the young maiden he had spoken to last night. Would she appear and confirm her promise or was it just a rouse. He waited patiently on a tree stump under a tree. He could hear the wind sweep across the plains and took a deep breath.

As I wake up, I feel good with myself. I was about to kill that guy, even gave him some emotional lies to lure him in. But in the end, he showed promise. If there's anything I value in this work, it's skill. That's why I became a Sensei, to separate the gold from the pebbles. Looking over the balcony of the Mizukage's palace, I take in the morning mist, of salt and blood. Home. Inspiration.

Reaching the appointed place, I gaze upon the ninja before me. Nothing special, but eager to learn. He'll make a great ninja some day.

Very well. I'll be your Sensei in Lightning. Don't expect it to come easy, but you can be sure of one thing. After you've mastered it with me, you've mastered it to the greatest extend one can master anything.

But first, tell me what you know about chakra, a ninja, elemental ninjutsu, etc

As the woman approached the field, Shin heard her footsteps, got up from his meditation, and dusted himself off. As soon as she came into mid-range, as was customary in Hijima, Shin gave a bow and spoke with much respect:

"Good morning, Sensei."

"As for your questions, Chakra is a balanced ratio of physical and spiritual energy that is used to fuel ninja techniques or other forms of fighting by manipulating its shape and properties. Understanding how chakra work can mean the difference between life and death for a ninja. Understanding the limits of chakra such as the different nature and shape transformation combinations there are, are what separate the fodder from the truly skilled.

Simply put, a Ninja is someone who endures. They employ the use weapons and/or chakra to perform techniques that aid in their specialty, sabotage and assassination. But simply having techniques does not make one a shinobi. One must be trained in its use and application in order for the shinobi to utilize them properly and efficiently. But if you asked me what makes a ninja, it is his will to survive and desire to become better not for himself but to protect the lives of others. Though we may be mere tools, we are still human and understand human sorrow. It is this weakness of ours, that with control, can tip the scale in battle to our favor. If ya don't have guts then you don't deserve to call yourself a ninja. Hahaha *grins at the sensei*

Elemental Ninjutsu...hmm....it is basically about the different chakra nature types no? There are five chakra natures that exist in this world: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and Lightning. They all have their own properties and relationships amongst themselves. Basically they will overpower each other in this order:

Fire > Wind > Lightning > Earth > Water> Fire all over again

Fire will overpower Wind but be overtaken by Water, Wind will overpower Lightning but be weak to Fire, etc. However, depending on the scope of the technique you use in elemental ninjutsu, one may overpower the other. A weak fire attack could be snuffed out by a stronger wind attack or a strong water attack could dissolve strong earth into mud, and so forth. Keeping this in mind, it would be wise to combine your attacks with elements that share a special relationship or mesh well together. Water is a good conductor of electricity which lightning is known for. A smaller less powerful wind technique could be added to fire once it has already been initiated to make it grow into a larger more deadlier technique, etc. Understanding these relationships will help you make better counters and keep you on the offensive. Our goal as a ninja is to never be on the defensive...ever.

Um...you said etcetera but I wasn't sure what you meant by that. Should I go on and talk about what I know about Lightning or....sorry sensei. I am terrible at guessing the mind of a woman." *squints his face in shame*

You fool. You're luck was that, what you did wrote, was quite good. So let's drop my previous question and let me ask you a new one. You talked about how different elements can actually help eachother and make a more powerful outcome. So, are you able to combine Lightning with any other element? How?

After hearing her response, Shin tried to remember the things he learned on his journey. Though it wasn't much, Shin trusted himself and began to speak in a more assertive tone.

"From what I gathered there are two types of combinations. The first being successive and the second being simultaneous. The first I speak of is when using a water jutsu followed promptly by a lightning jutsu. The now infused water jutsu becomes quite deadly as direct contact can cause paralysis. This is not considering the power exerted already from the water technique in effect. The second combination is only possible through a specific, genetic coding in the user, aka kekkei genkai (kg) or bloodline limit. There are two kg that are tied to the lightning element, Storm Release and Swift Release. Storm release combines the water's versatility with the lightnings destructive power making it into a fluid beam of light. It is quite impressive and only one I know who can use it is Darui of Kumogakure. The other combination, Swift Release, combines the speed of both elements and allows the user to move at an accelerated pace that it is almost impossible to track. It makes it quite hard for close combat fighters that rely on taijutsu since they can't keep up with the speed. It is hard at times to see them clearly. Takes some skill and determination to knock them down. Only user I can think of using it was Hiruko (name?).

Apart from that, that is all I know sensei. I apologize if that wasn't the answer you expected."

Well, I'm speaking of ways to enhance your Lightning usage. When it comes to combining elements, we take the main characteristics of the elements and fuse them together, normally enhancing them to an extent, as they naturally would behave. As such, each particular element adds some specific characteristics to any combination.

Lightning adds energy and piercing power.

Water is free-flowing and flexible. Infusing lighting into it means you're able to retrieve a more flexibility form of spreading energy around. All of that to simply mean that water conducts lightning, allowing you to electrocute an opponent soaked in it. You can spread it around a lake, a puddle, through your opponent's wet clothes, etc.

Earth is tangible and strong, but it is also weak to lightning. Lightning has been shown to have a certain physical property, allowing it to destroy rocks and earth materials. By spreading a lightning surge through the ground, in a certain manner, you might be able to destroy it in such a way that, along side the lightning heading towards your opponent, large chunks of debris follow through, creating a bigger punch. In fact, if you shake your opponent's floor, you're more likely able to hit him when he's unbalanced.

Fire is intangible, and, better yet, is strong to wind, which is Lightning's weakness. Lightning, on the other hand, is fast and piercing. If you shoot lightning through walls of flames, you can, not only hide the lightning from your opponent, giving him even less time to react, but also have a sort of protection from wind, as no one would use it when facing a wall of fire. So, while not actually combined, they're used in a manner that each technique completes the other.

Wind disrupts lightning, and does not allow the energy to flow, because it increases the resistance of the medium through which the lightning is running. But if you were to capitalize on that resistance manipulation, you could use the main attribute of both element (Speed), to create a great combination. With that being said, vortexes work very well together, regardless of which elements you're trying to combine, as the speed of the rotation allows different elements to interact only slightly, so, even opposite elements (like lightning and wind), would not neutralize eachother, but rather enhance one another. A Lightning/Wind vortex would be sharper, faster and more energetic (translating in discharges of electricity that would numb/shock/paralyze your opponent)
