Surely there's a difference between Sage Mode techniques(Techniques fused with nature energy) and infusing the sage's chakra with an attack. If they are indeed one in the same, that would imply the Sage's chakra is merely nature energy. By that logic, Naruto did not have to meet the sage to receive this power-up, considering all he received was half of the sage's chakra.

I'm confused currently and I'm hoping someone could clear this up. U_U

He did. Without Hagoromo he wouldn't have reached the perfect sage mode.

Well gathering energy from the surrounding is time consuming process . Also more time you do it , more evenry you get , but So6p is like a tank full of that and he just bathed both naruto and sasuke with it.
look at this- Naruto when used SM against pain was able to create like 4-5 rasenshuriken (only normals) but now he has already done 2 wich are much bigger and better than his original rasengans and he doesnt look like he is tired at all.
So yes Naruto could have got this much power if he collected energy for a few decades but there is no time for that.

All mentioned have nature energy in it and are only different by concentration of it imho.

A sage's own chakra probably has high percentage of nature energy as he is kaguya's son and got it from fruit.
