So my ps3 is done the power supply itself is caput don't bother telling me ways to fix I've tried it all and am quite talented at fixing them, its done.

But I've gotten so far on kingdom hearts proud mode I've synthesized so many items and leveled up to 73 and it takes soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to level up I refuse to start over on another ps3 so how in the world can I take the memory for my game out of a ps3 that I cannot start up? I know it is possible to take a ps3 hard drive and put it in a laptop (although I've never done it) and I know it is also possible to insert a flash drive into a ps3 and save game data and then transfer it to another (when the ps3 will start) so my question is....if anyone knows the answer......is it possible to put my broken ps3's hard drive into a laptop and then save my kingdom hearts game data from it onto a flash drive and then transfer it to my new ps3?

any help and advice will be greatly welcomed and I will give reputation since that's all I can do.

there is a screw on the bottom, take it out and on the front side there is a sliding compartment open it and you are able to take the hard drive out, hope this helps man

on topic, no i dont think so you might have to get a adapter for it, but i dont even know, and a lot of game saves are account based so you may have problems

Ive had a psn account based game save I'm pretty sure this is saved to the hard drive, if it was account based then this might be easier than the idea I am proposing but I'm sure its not. And what do you mean by adapter?

That's fine. Try this.

Put the HDD into a different PS3

Use a USB Capble to connect the different PS3 to a Computer

Copy your Save files from the HDD into the Computer

Take the HDD out of the different PS3 once the Saves are copied into the Computer

Put the new HDD inside of the different PS3. Then reconnect it to the Computer.

Copy the Saves from your computer to the HDD.

Now the saves from the old HDD are in the NEW HDD.

Note: Copying files can get tricky, a good computer knowledge will make it easier do.

You have to format the HDD for it to work on the new PS3. Though, that will wipe everything. Do you have a desktop computer?
yes I have a laptop and the point is I'm trying not to wipe out my game data

this sounds like it might work although when I put the hdd into the new ps3 it says it doesn't recognize it or something like that and I don't think I can go past that screen

I've read that each PS3 encrypts data in a different way, that's why you can't use it on the new one.

But how come you can't just get a new power supply unit?

but it asks me to format it as soon as I put it in and that would just erase all of the data on it
