So does that mean Orochimaru was the closest person to sasuke as he "died" in that battle too

Itachi was surprised to see Sasuke during the war with an EMS. Perhaps Itachi had not been intending to unlock Sasuke's MS. After all, his primary objective was for Sasuke to redeem the Uchiha clan.

Sasuke awakened the MS after realizing that the brother he had always loved so much was in fact the real Itachi, and that he had been doing everything he did only for Sasuke. So, after realizing that he had killed the person that had probably loved him more than anyone else in the world, he awoke the Mangekyo Sharingan, due to the shock from learning the real truth.

I know how sasuke unlocked it as i stated but itachi being hated by sasuke. why else did itachi remove the curse mark

Itachi did know only a few people that knew about it

Obito telling sasuke the truth about itachi i think helped him awaken his Mangekyou Sharingan

And sasuke was just using orochimaru to help him train and get stronger
