ok i know many of you are younger than me but this is the situation a man was shot in the head last night and robbed in my apartment complex same block as me and last month someone tried to break in my car now my apartment complex wont let me out of my lease but i dont feel safe in this area anymore do you think its fair for them to bind me by my lease in this situation. by the way the murder was a random robbery

Umm, can't you just cancel the lease, pay for the remainder of the month, and take the hit on the security deposit? They shouldn't be able to do that unless it was in the contract, and you didn't read it.

i would go to some sort of legal forum and ask the question there. there could be some type of legal action you could take depending on what the terms of your lease are, but i doubt anyone here would know anything about that

ethically, you think they would let you out if you dont feel safe, but some people just dont care about anything but money

well, if you do move make sure you have a place to stay, a job lined up, and money saved up.you don't want to be in the same situation as me right now lol

if you have money go to a lawyer if you don't you can always leave but you won't get back your deposit and the next time you try and get a lease it will be harder for you when thye run a backround check on you they will see you broke a lease but if you explain the situation to them tell them where it was so they know you are not lying you should be all right. hope that helps that is the best thing i can tell you
