This.
Wars are supposed to tug at a reader's emotions and inspire some sort of feeling.

Exactly, if Ksihimoto can make deaths in the war like Jiraiya's we wouldn't be complaining.

It's because in wars people die. However, very very few named character have died. only fodders have died. Thus, the war arc doesn't have the feeling of a real war because few named characters has died.

also, bad analogy

Thanks, but I dont need your opinion ;)

Im not saying that the characters shouldnt die at all, but even when many characters die, the fanbase basically keeps saying ''We need more''

"Many" isn't the right word. Try 1.

We need more because we haven't had any death this whole war basically.

So you're an emo if you want to see characters in a fictional manga die...
It adds twists and suspense

I'm not talking about the war I'm talking about the story as a whole.
Anyway, Shukaku Inoichi and Neji. Even though Inoichi and Shukaku are not that important, In bleach no named character ever dies.

Yeah, I see your point, but still. We need characters deaths that make you feel like you just got punched in the stomach.
The producer of lion king is better at killing important characters than Kishi.

I think the idea is that in Naruto, war has always been known to be a terrible thing. Itachi for example, made a sacrifice to ensure a war wouldn't be sparked because the very idea was terrifying. Nagato dealt with much pain in his life since his home country was in constant turmoil due to a great war. There's more to it but you get the idea.

Like others have said, death especially to vital or loveable characters is a good mechanism to bring sadness to the readers, making them feel anguished that the war is going on and some of their favorites are kicking the bucket. It makes them want to root for the hero. It's just a way to build connections to the audience!

I'm sure not everybody thinks this way but that's supposed to be the idea behind it.

Although Kishi really needs to develop characters if he wants people to feel any sympathy for their death...

Yeah you guys are forgetting something, the characters in the show are barely teenagers, basically, almost you age, so why would you want people so young to die? Even war shouldnt kill them. Most of ya say that ''How will the new generation surpass the old generation?'' well, I say how will the new generation surpass the old generation if THERE IS NO new generation.

Not a war if no one dies in it.

because it creates turmoil and keeps the reader attached because it then makes it seem that there's something to lose in the war and not just magically heal from being cut in half.

Then why post in a discussion forum? In a discussion forum, you discuss your opinions with other fans who have different opinions.

edit;

strawman logical fallacy

no one wants the entire generation to die. We want some important characters to die in order to make it feel like a war. Countless kids have died in war. off the top of my head, the vast majority of Americans killed at Iwo Jima were kids. Death does not discriminate against age, especially in wartime. For a war to feel real, charaster must die

for a story to have suspense, characters must die. Now we know these characters will get out of everything a okay. there's zero suspense. if a character were to die, then we wouldn't know if a character is safe. watch A Game of Thrones. main characters die a lot. No one is safe. that's how you create suspense.

lol it's a war. Kishi said in one of his interviews that he wanted to show the horrors of war as well as the potential in people to overcome it. It's a cop out to kill off a bunch of random no name ninja.

Fodder ninja dying=Naruto looking at a bowel of Ramen. He forgets about it soon as it's gone. K11 and masters dying=Naruto really being pushed to the brink emotionally.

They complain about this because 95% of the Naruto fans on this forum are 12 years olds.

Because that's how people thought it would work.

It's a war. They DON'T have happy endings even if you're the winner.
That's actually one of the things that should have been shown. Instead of showing the end of the war as something extremely happy, the author could actually make it look like war is something negative. "We won, but the price was extremely high..." It's the idea that the only thing you get out of war is the death of people that are close to you.

Quote from Nagato:
"Dying like trash… never ending hatred… pain that never heals… that is war… Naruto… this… is what you must face… "

It's the impact of the death of those important characters that would be good for the plot. Because it'd show how bad war is.

Thanks, but I dont need your opinion ;)

If you act like that, people won't listen to your opinions either.

War & Death doesn't discriminate by age. Death doesn't go "He's too young, I'll get him when he's 21"

These teenagers walked into war, they know what they are getting into. They get no special treatment for not being in their 30s

How will the new generation handle things themselves when they rely on the dead bodies of the old generation to handle things for them?

Kakashi's generation was at war at the age of what? 9?
And they a lot of them died at that age.

Kakashi said he lost most of his friends at a young age.
This is supposed to be the bad thing about the shinobi world.

Kakashi was a chunin at the age of six.

Naruto is a manga about kids in the military. Not only that, but they're seen as weapons. Think about it. Naruto's generation were ninja since the age of 12. Kakashi was a ninja since the age of FIVE. At the age of 13, Itachi was a professional assassin. One of the best. ANBU Captain. We're talking about a world of people with no empathy...

It's only not rated M because Kishimoto lightened it a lot by not showing darker themes too often. He talked about it and showed it once or twice. Don't blame him for seeking the larger audience. I'd have done the same. He makes the main character a funny, idiot guy... Then gives the audience several happy chapters... And suddenly a chapter like this one pops up:

How old was Obito there? 14? 13? Something like that...
