[Question] Question on Luffy and Dragon

So basically, this question stemmed from One Piece and FMA. In FMA, the prtagonists are, at their primes, not as strong as their dad (Hohenheim). In OP, if Dragon really is Uranus as some ppl claim he is, then there is no way Luffy could be stronger thn him since Uranus is a weapon of mass destruction. However tht goes against the Pirate King title tht Lufy has to aspire to as PK are the strongest of the strongest.

Would this go against the main logic. How do the audience feel about this? Is it essential tht a protagonist has to be stronger thn their dads/mentors in a shounen manga? I mean consider the sannin and Hiruzen. It is quite heavily hinted tht at the time of hIRUZEN v Orochimaru and Jiraiya v Pain tht the mentors could hv defeated their pupils had they been in their prime or known fully bout their ability. Naruto is stronger thn Minato and Jiraiya and tht follows he traditional shounen logic.

However, gohan from DBZ, despite being Goku son and his disciple, has not surpassed Goku but instead has gotten weaker.

My question, in the end, is that is it vital for a shounen protagonist to surpass their parents if they are overhyped asf (like Luffy and Dragon)

I think in most shonen the protagonist always surpasses their mentors/father(figure). This isn't always in strength. In fma Ed surpassed his dad by beating Truths game and restoring himself and his brother, essentially he realized Hohenheims dreams even if he was never stronger in a fight than Hohenheim. This is in its own way Ed surpassing Hohenheim.
We don't know Dragons power but his goal is along the lines of destroying the injustice and corrupt world of the world nobles and tenryuubitos, Luffy just wants the freedom to do what he wants -> the pirate king. Luffy may well surpass Dragon by realizing his dreams for him as his journey will undoubtedly put him in direct conflict with the very things Dragon wants to destroy. So even if Luffy never became more powerful than Dragon/Garp (I still think he will) he may still "surpass" them by achieving the things they couldn't in his own way. Surpassing doesn't always have to be in the generic power sense.

If Luffy can't beat this man 1v1 then how can he call himself the pirate king? That man Is likely to be much stronger than anyone come EOS.

Luffy will have to fight to gain or a fight to retain that title, either way he has to fight Blackbeard.
