Question for The Hobbit Trilogy

Where does this take place chronologically within the universe.

Does it take place Before,During or after any point in The Lord of the Rings trilogy ?

Which one should i watch first ?

Which is your preferred Trilogy of choice ?

Forgo the movies and read the novels instead ?

It's the prequel to LoTRs. I believe the hobbit is/was in the first LoTR but was older then.

Takes place before the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Doesn't really matter which you watch first, but I'll suggest Lord of the Rings trilogy because the third Hobbit movie isn't out yet so you'd have to wait if you were to try watch The Hobbit trilogy first. o-o

As for the books vs movies, why not both?
