Umm, why is that, If it gets longer, that means he's lieing ,therefore "Am lieing" is a lie, so that means he isnt lieing and ...

Well we couldn't really argue for it's a lack of knowledge from the story.

So I would have to assume him referring to a lie would also make his nose grow.
