What this guy said, as much as I normally dislike your opinions I agree with you on this one. I like One Piece too but out of all 600 something episodes they haven't matched the feelings that FMA:B gave me.
And for the record, Hunter x Hunter 2011 is better than them both, just saying.
I guess this varies from a person to person. FMA:B and most other anime I've seen haven't matched the feelings that One Piece gave me over 600 or so episodes.
Nami's, Sanji's, Chopper's, Robin's, Brook's and Norland's flashbacks, Straw Hats coming to Arlong Park, Luffy punching Bellamy, Merry's funeral, Usopp getting beat up by Franky Family and then leaving the crew, Luffy using Gear 2 for the first time, Luffy telling Ussop to burn the world government flag, Zoro's sacrifice in Thriller Bark, Luffy punching the Tenryuubito, Straw Hats getting completely obliterated at Sabaody Archipelago, Luffy using CotC at Amazon Lily and Marinford, Ace's and Whitebeard's deaths, the whole Gray Terminal flashback arc. There's just so many feels in One Piece. HxH and FMA:B fail in comparison. Not even close.
HxH 2011 might have better fights, and FMA:B might have a much better pace and mature, well developed and consistent story, but overall One Piece trumps both. It has better and more likable characters, better story (overall), better comedy, better setting/world.
Let's look at the pros and cons of these three animes.
One Piece
+ Amazing and enormous world, vastly populated by dozens of races and creatures
+ Rich story
+ Well written, well developed and likeable characters
+ Likeable main protagonist
+ Unpredictable plot
+ Good comedy
+ Enormous cast of characters
+ Amazing voice acting
+ All characters get screentime and even the most minor characters are not forgotten
+ Consistently entertaining story over 600 episodes
+ Perfect balance between action and humor
+ Unique and original character designs (they're vastly improved over the time)
+ Interesting, unique and diverse powers
+ Remarkably well written flashback/backstories
+ Large amount of mysteries
+ Iconic anime characters (Whitebeard, Zoro)
+ Lack of inconsistencies and plotholes (there are some)
+ Fantastic OST's that perfectly fit the scenes
+ Heartbreaking, heartrending and tearjerker scenes and episodes in every arc
+ Large amount of themes explored in the story ranging from slavery, revolution, genocide, war, oppression, piracy, rape (implied) to racism, class discrimination, bigotry etc.
- Terrible pacing
- Author is afraid to kill his characters
- Poor animation for the first 200 or so episodes
- Lack of truly menacing villains
- Overuse of deus ex machina
Hunter x Hunter 2011
+ Beautiful animation
+ Large cast of characters
+ Interesting world
+ Unique, diverse and interesting energy system and powers
+ Amazing fights
+ Awesome villains
+ Decent pace
+ Decent OST's
- Poor character designs (saved by anime, but they're still meh)
- Lack of humor or good humor
- Same old repetitive training and tournament style arcs
- Vastly unexplored world
- Average to boring characters
- Boring and uninteresting main character
- Mediocre story with no clear end
FMA:B
+ Well written, mature and consistent story
+ Relatively large cast
+ A lot of well written and well developed characters
+ Great villains and awesome final villain
+ Fantastic OST's
+ Cool fighting scenes
+ Interesting concept of higher power
+ A few good tearjerker moments
+ Cute little kung-fu panda
+ Badass swordsman (Wrath)
- Unimpressive powers
- Mediocre character designs (blockfaces, eww)
- Annoying main character, which the author desperately tried to make look cool and badass
- Vastly unexplored world, although the country in which the story is set is explored from corner to corner
- Mediocre comedy
There's probably more pros and cons to add, especially to HxH and FMA:B, but I doubt they would outweigh all of the pros of One Piece. Mind you, I am just talking about anime, manga stomps both of these by a large margin. As much as the haters don't want to believe it, it's the best selling manga of all time for a reason. Not the best manga and certainly not the best anime, but it's one of the best shonen's ever produced and is all what a good shonen manga/anime should be.
One Piece is so successful because it doesn't try to be something it's not and stays true to its values from beginning to the end. This picture says it all :

I appreciate the effort you put into this post but you couldn't be more wrong about the FMAB section of your list imo..
First off its hilarious...I die of laughter multiple times throughout lml, but that is just my opinion
Second, Main character desperately trying to be made cool?
He gets pawned in almost every fight he's in? FMAB was the few anime that didn't put a giant plot shield around their character partly because the villains needed him alive, which is an excellent way to do it U_U
If FMAB wanted its Main Character to be cool, they wouldn't of made him a midget :| Nor is he annoying in the slightest
Character desing is simpistic yet wonderful, it may be a little lacking on the creative side, (unlike OP who just makes people look stupid really) But the personalities perfectly match their appearances, or contrast them purposely
Un-impressive powers...Eh, their just not OP, which actually takes creativity to simulate U_U
Again loving the effort in your post though my man
The ignorance in this post is astonishing? My favorite anime is NOT Black Butler as a matter of fact
Its Naruto U_U
And i've finished FMAB in June .....Ask anyone, i've been recommending it for a good 5 months now
Its also quite obvious that i do not like OP...However i simply wanted peoples opinions on the matters i posted in the OP, Which clearly don't necessarily matter how long the anime is :|
So if your done spouting shit that just makes you look stupid U_U You may want to actually learn how to read.
Sorry for that incomplete post, shit happens and it was automatically posted,
its as clear as day that you started this thread objectively in other words biased and if you don't get that, its called one sided....
why would you compare something that you loved with the one that you hated ? care to share ? surely you already know the answer yes ?
so no matter what people said about One Piece being better than FMA you will never agree with them which rendered this discussion useless, because you already made up your mind that people who think One Piece better is in delusion which is quite hilarious because your statement also is nothing more than an opinion, did i smell hypocrisy ? i'll leave that to you...
oh and also its quite funny for you to talk about something that you disliked.

:| I hate one piece, if it bothers you that much you must live quite a sad life U_U
Even so that has nothing do do with all your opinions now does it,
I also hate Code Geass, however i still recognize it as one of if not THE best anime around, One piece is just awful along with the fact that i hate it

Personally i prefer FMAB because what FMAB did in 60 or so episodes, One Piece is still trying to do 600+ episodes later. As someone who has caught up with the One Piece manga i can say that the one piece story tends to get stale a LOT by literally trying to shove characters that i don't care about down my throat. While i agree that one piece has great character development, in my opinion that is what keeps me from getting into the story. Also, its very hard to take a villain seriously with the designs that they have. I understand that in Japan One Piece is the biggest thing in anime ever however, i think its the most overrated anime/manga out there. In the end, its all my opinion however and i am aware that there are many people who will disagree.

The writing, the use of characters, the damn EMOTION of some moments in particular, the symbolism and world the series creates but most importantly the messages. This anime deals with a lot of adult and interesting topics from the guilt and repurcussions of a genocide (has real world appliances) from dealing with death of loved ones to the actual study of mankind itself. FMA Brotherhood is a study on everything human and if you've seen the amazingly executed finale you know that no anime has ever been wrapped up to such perfection.
I also could not get into Code Geass, I think it's just difference in taste.

One Piece has everything you mentioned, so either your standards for masterpiece are low or One Piece is also a masterpiece. Although, nothing you mentioned makes FMA:B a masterpiece. Just a decent, well-written series.
and if you've seen the amazingly executed finale you know that no anime has ever been wrapped up to such perfection
It was a satisfying ending, but far from perfection. There was nothing original or mindblowing about it. Pretty standard ending for a series of this genre.
I also could not get into Code Geass, I think it's just difference in taste.
How so? I know a lot of people are put off by the character designs, but the story, characters, plot, the setting and almost everything else about it was great.
What did it do? End the series? I don't understand what are you referring to >_>

Isn't that what people say about every popular work? In my opinion, FMA:B is even more overrated than One Piece. It's not a masterpiece and it's definitely not the best anime of all time, as many like to believe.

Who are these characters and how exactly do they make One Piece stale?
I am not sure what you mean by that.
Not every villain has a weird design. What's wrong with Smoker, Crocodile, Enel, Rob Lucci, Aokiji, Kizaru, Akainu, Magellan, Blackbeard, Doflamingo?
It's not just Japan.

It provided great character development, plot, and overall enjoyment in the span of 60 or so episodes. As i stated before however, its my opinion and I'm not stating it as a fact. Some people prefer there character development to go past 100 episodes...or more in this case.
The characters that make one piece stale for me are Usopp, Chopper, Franky, and the hand chick/thing and more recently the samurai and the dragon kid. But again that is just in my case.
What i mean when i say that character development is what drives me away is that to me when they provide character development for characters i do not care about, it feels like filler. For example, in this current arc, i like the Colosseum parts with Luffy and i was enjoying the Trafalgar's fight but as soon as they brought in Usopp and the others i lost interest. It made the arc go from being great to just dragging on.
We could sit here and have an entire conversation on what i find wrong with the character designs although i will say that i have some characters whose designs i actually like. However, those characters are very few.
and no overrated, is a term i use to describe most ongoing shounen these days. They receive WAY too much credit that they really don't deserve. FMAB was not overrated, in fact i would put it up as a hidden gem in a way. The fan base itself isn't as big as say the big three fan base and usually all the people who I've met that like FMAB do not have that "This anime is the best everything else is inferior blah blah blah" crap.
Look, all i am stating is my personal opinion. I am not saying One Piece is bad, all i am saying is that overall FMAB is my personal preference.

Actually that's my line..... if you hate One Piece so much why talk about it ? you're trying to said something about discussion but you don't want to discuss anything at all ,
seriously son you disappoint me, in the end of the day you're just another One Piece hater.........
i should stop expecting so much.
