I just watched the Naruto vs Toneri fight, and I'm confused about something. Was Naruto using just BSM? And what cloak did Toneri have?

Toneri had a dojustu called the "tenseigan", which is an evolved form of byakugan. It enables him to activate a chakra mode.No, it's not bijuu sage mode. Naruto entered a chakra mode, but not sage bijuu mode. I don't know why...but his seal is responsible for those black symbols and lines all over his body.I guess it "allows" him to enter chakra mode without some special dojustu.

The logical explanation for him not using RSM is that RSM was not there in manga when movie was in production and once it was introduced they would have needed a complete rewrite of the fight which they couldnt be half assed into doing.With Sasuke,it was like a slow mo photo shoot so incorporating his Rinnegan was easier
