I thought Sasukes snake summon had been killed in the blast and he had a Hawk know. Where did the snake come from? did I miss something?

Probably another Snake .. When you sign a contract, you don't sign it to one specific animal, you can basically summon every animal that is part of that certain summon .

if its a snake summoning contract , you can summon any snake .. but you have to have skill to keep it up..

Naruto summoned Gamabunta, Gamakichi, Gamatatsu .. all three of them .. they are all toads..
