Question about Part 1 after Naruto v Sasuke

What important happened after the sasuke retrieval arc? I basically, went straight to shippuden, and read every manga chapter. It seems like i missed nothing important after that, because nothing seems to link to he story after the arc.

Edit: I remember watching an arc with Gaara in it, don't know if it's filler tho.

you didn't miss anything, after the sasuke retrievel arc in the anime there were alot fillers.

The only "important" part about those fillers was that Naruto finally left to go train
