Question About Latest Chapter

This is a question about how Sakura ran forward to start a distraction.

So when she got stabbed by the rod, was Sasuke trying to save her or kill Madara even though it'd also kill her? Sakura said "Sasuke didn't care" in the manga, but I'm seeing some people say he does care and was trying to save her. This has me really confused now.

This is nothing about the pairings or anything; I just want to know what Sasuke's intentions were. I really hate being confused about stuff like this.

I'm pretty sure he was just taking advantage of the "distraction" and attacking Madara since Sakura could heal herself and was, not in her ideal way, causing a distraction. He had no intention to kill her. He has reasons, everyone does because it's Sakura, but the goal is to take down Madara via teamwork.
