I was just thinking that when kakashi first used his kamui on Deidara it resulted in his arm being totally removed from his body. So then is it a different ability when Obito uses his sharingan to allow punches or kunai to go through his body. For example when say Naruto punches him but his strike goes right through his body. Wouldn't the separation of that part of his body cause major damage such as in Deidara's case?
Im sure there is a reason for this but let me know what your interpretation is.

Thanks!

He can teleport his body to another dimension whilst remaining in a different one, his chakra is essentially in two places at once, but it doesn't matter because Itachi solos

Obito's right allows him to phase through anything when his eye is activated. If he touches anyone then he can teleport them to his dimension.

Kakashi's left eye allows him to teleport whatever he is looking at into Obito's dimension. He was bad at using it when he faced Deidara so he could only teleport his arm. They aren't the same abilities but are similar.

Right eye:

The parts of his body that overlap with something else are sent to the other dimension ("intangibility"). He's not a hologram or anything when he uses it. He still exists in the real world. The only parts going to the other dimension are those that are overlapping with something else (they're not there in other words until the object stops taking up that space)

He can warp himself in and out of the Kamui dimension as well.

Left eye: Long Ranged Kamui. By spending chakra, the user is able to open up a "black hole that would drag anything in its "event horizon" into the other dimension.

He can warp himself in and out of the Kamui dimension as well.

There is no defence against Kamui in the sense that it can't be blocked or "tanked". The only way to avoid it is through teleportation. One could argue about punching the user before being warped but I question that since it distorts the space around them and well...You have seen how they look like as they're being warped in. Attacks that don't really require the victim's movement will definately work though (Shinra Tensei, Limbo, Blaze Release, Gaara's Sand, etc.) but only if the victim is fast enough to react before getting warped. And ofcourse, if the technique they choose to use is fast enough to prevent them from getting warped.
