Question about Gaaras sand armor

The first question, I understand how it can be form fitting, but how does it replicate the coloration of Gaaras skin, clothes, etc?

Second question, how does the sand armor actually nullify kinetic energy? If Lee can outspeed his sand during the chunin exams that means hes still going super fast, Gaara has no notable taijutsu skills (unless u count dat filler shit) so it stands to reason he doesnt have a well conditioned body.

Here is your answer; this is how Armour of Sand works... He must have used the Transformation Technique or simply chakra to blend into his skin and clothes.

what i mean is even if hes encased in sand his body should still feel the effects of the kinetic transfer

The first part seems like its been answered as for the second one, imo the armor is made up of a large volume of sand in which case it would make sense it can absorb some of the KE from hits. The remainder of the energy that gets through to Gaara would probably be mild.
