So, just now I was fixing up some of my old threads, and something sort of stopped me from doing that..

I can't edit my post. There's no edit button in the bottom right corner of the post. Why not?

Is there a limited time frame in which you can edit your post? If there is, no offense but that's somewhat lame >.>..

Note: The post I was trying to edit was from 5-31-2012. About 10 days ago or so.

Someone please answer this :(

Yeah you are not allowed to edit older post..

Possibly after 8 days. This has been the forum policy for a long time and they don't seem like they will be changing it in the near future.

Is there any specific reason as to why they made that policy? Because personally it seems like a stupid idea. (no offense .-.) I know it doesn't really come up often where someone wants to edit a post from a week ago. But I happen to be "that guy" xD

Mehh idk.
They are not even ready to keep that indefinite edit for one section, let alone the entire forum.

There might be several reasons, but the best one I can think of is to preserve the thread and its content. For the most part, there really isn't a reason to go back and edit old posts, but a few decent reasons do exist. This thread might help with your answer:

By the way, you could have used the "search this forum" to try and find this thread. I suggest you use it in the future.^^

Mmm, I did attempt to look for a thread like this. Although I'll admit I didn't look too hard. xD

So basically a good amount of people were agreeing with the idea yet there was really no final say on the topic (yes/no and why/why not). Do you have any idea on how this was handled by the mods/If they handled it in general?

They did bring up a good point in trust about the whole CJ thing, but someone said if someone does abuse their trust, the mods could do something harsh so no one/(s)he wouldn't do it again. It seemed perfectly reasonable to me.

Mehh, oh well. If you do reply and it's a nice definite answer. Feel free to close/merge this thread.

Well, the final word was that for specific sections they were going to try and implement the idea (Custom Jutsu threads for example). I don't know if that was implemented, but as far as base-wide, the general answer is no because of the trust issue. To have completely open access to your threads throughout the base could increase the Staff's workload by too much. Having just a few sections with that ability that need it, makes it more manageable.

Well, the trust issue wouldn't be as large across other threads like Naruto Discussion for example. Because they can't do anything that would seriously affect something (like altering a CJ for example, that's serious. But there's no serious alterations you can make on a discussion thread)

The worst thing a person could do to their own thread is realize they're wrong in their theory or opinion while it's in hottest threads/popular threads and just change the original post to a "funny" picture or something. By that time, the thread would most likely be closed due to flame wars anyway :|
