it is said by garp the yonko(who live ine the new world) are the most powerful and terrifying pirates

it took a combined effort of the shichibukai and marines to battle just white beard!
if I am not mistaken Mihawk is a shichibukai and he is >> shanks
so some shichibukai are > some yonkos?

A few things misinterpreted.

I'm guessing you are thinking Mihawk > Shanks because he is the world strongest swordsman. That doesn't mean he is stronger than Shanks. It just means he is better than Shanks in sword fighting. Shanks is stronger in other categories however, which overall means he is stronger.

Also, it wasn't just Whitebeard. It was him and his entire fleet. Shanks also has a fleet, which is why they need the marines and shichibukai to counter them. A yonkou is more then just the captain.

Lastly, we don't really know how strong the yonkou are. The only one who has feats is WB. Shanks has hype, but the other two are just there. No one can say if Mihawk is stronger than a yonkou. We do know Doflamingo is scared of Kaido, and some rank him and the number 2 shichibukai. I mean is the gap between number one and 2 that huge where one is afraid of a Yonkou and the other can fight one to a draw is a sword fight? It really is just all speculation and we should just wait and see how strong they really are.

Is that why mihawk left when Shanks showed up at the marine war. Mohawks exact words were . I was told I was gonna help fight against WB not red hair n he left. According to you he's stronger than a yonkou so why did Mohawk leave if he could beat Shanks easy? Simple answer is he can't

On a contrary Shanks was willing to fight Mihawk despite of being in a hang over condition. If you are going to say that Mihawk is far stronger just because he refused to fight Shanks then wouldn't hang over Shanks willing to fight Mihawk put Shanks above Mihawk? Mihawk refused to fight Shanks because he lost his arm so he can't fight with his full power. Mihawk won't bother with challenging one armed Shanks even if Shanks is stronger than him.

Nothing suggests that they were equals. Given their personalities Shanks isn't a type of guy that would seek battles to show his superiority where as Mihawk has that kind of personality which hints that Mihawk was the one that went after Shanks to challenge him. Given his nature Mihawk doesn't care about people that weaker than him so it's likely to say that Shanks was >/= Mihawk back then.

He clashed equally with WB, strongest dude in OP since Rogers time. Not to mention that WB was using both hands where as Shanks matched it with just one hand. An attack from both hands carries almost twice the power of what you can offer with single hand. There is noway in hell for WB to take out Shanks that easily.

This is not Naruto to think that hype means nothing, Oda always justifies the hype that was created by him.

You should understand not shichibukai does not indicate power levels. There are top tier shichibukai (dofy, mihawk) and fodder tier shichibukai (buggy).

Also Shanks vs Mihawk is a unsettled match, since mihawk decided it would no longer be fair to fight a 1 armed man.

P.S - Shanks = Mihawk.

1. it didn't ''take'' the Marines + Sichibukai to battle the WB Pirates, the Marines (+ Sichibukai who actually did pretty much nothing) annihilated the WB Pirates, the only top marine notably injured was Akainu and even he still had enough umpf in him to still keep pushing against the pirates (including the commanders)

2. it's most likely Shanks > Mihawk but yes Mihawk is on the same level as the Yonko and the Admirals, Mihawk might be Zoro's role model but Shanks is Luffy's

Nope, that's exactly what it means. Shanks is a swordsman, Mihawk is the strongest swordsman, so he's stronger than Shanks. It's not just being stronger in just swordplay, the overall category they both fall into is ¨swordsman¨, and Mihawk is the strongest man that falls into this category. Aside from that and saying Kaido has no hype, the rest of the post is pretty much spot on.

Well, from whwere the Manga is right now only Mihawk can stand a chance against a Yonkou. I personally believe Shanks is the second weakest of the original four, and Mihawk edges him in strength

A Yonkou is determined not just on individual power but their crews power and influence in terms of trade etc. Mihawk doesn't have a crew and therefore doesn't have enough influence to be a Yonkou
