Not really, lol.
Ah, that? According to what you've highlighted, jets, whips and spiralling vortexes of water aren't legit. This leads to a conclusion that, once the projectiles are launched, the user's chakra isn't tied to the technique and I guess, this isn't the case for Water Sources/Streams and Water Manipulation. Right?

Exacta,

Now it is not to say that the user's chakra isn't linked to it anymore. The technique itself consists of the chakra, however there is no longer any control the user has over the projectile once it has been fired, at least for the most part (there are some exceptions I believe which we'll get into when we talk about the actual techniques). That being said, this brings us to the advantages and disadvantages of the method.

Since, as you said, the chakra is no longer linked once you've released your projectiles you're not tied to that technique anymore and you're free to use other jutsu, unlike in cases where the technique requires you to constantly focus your chakra for the duration of that technique else you release the technqiue entirely and it falls apart *hint hint*. These techniques become self sustaining as a result. Another advantage is the fact that in most cases the projectiles allow you to fire several of them in one technique which provides you with a wider area of attack in order to distract or overhwlem your opponent.

The downsides are; the lack of control once released is a double edged sword. While you can quickly follow with another jutsu behind your projectile, in these cases once you release the projectile and they become self sustaining they don't act like heat seekers or chakra detectors and seek your opponent out, they go in the direction they were launched and their path will not alter once you've thrown them. This makes it easier for your opponent to avoid them. Now you may say that the capability to launch several projectiles in one sitting is a cover for that but that has it's own drawback as well. The reason for this is; if you take a technique of a certian power and divided the chakra evenly amongst several parts you have several individual that amount to the whole meaning they are weaker by themselves.

Example:
Water Projectile Jutsu
Type: Off
Rank: A
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: Releases a powerful projectile of water that can be divided in to several parts (up to 5)

Now this is one A-ranked technique. If you release 1 projectile with this technique it is as strong as 1 A-rank...if you release 5 projectiles with this technique all five parts together amount to 1 A-rank meaning each individual is weaker (C-ranked to be exact) By dividing the technique into five parts you take projectile that is equal to an A-rank and divide that power. They are collectively still an A-rank but individually weaker C-ranks meaning your opponent can use less force/power to defeat individual projectiles and use an opening to avoid the others without using a technique equal to the A-rank. This is the draw back to most projectile techniques in any element. Make sense?

Now before we continue do you have any questions?

Ah, so that's it. Means, once the projectiles are spewed from the mouth/released from the hands, their direction can't be altered, i.e. the user has no control over the technique, meaning he can come up with other jutsus. This is an advantage, because the user doesn't need to constantly maintain focus over the technique, meaning even if he is vulnerable to attacks, he can defend/counter easily. But, there are disadvantages. So, in general no techs that don't have disadvantages.
So, in case of the A-Ranked tech you posted, does the user have the choice of releasing a single projectiles or is it compulsory to release 5 projectiles, as stated by the tech? This is the only question I have. We can proceed further.

That was an example; most projectiles that allow for several projectiles allow you to create any number of them from 1 to 5. Five generally tends to be the cut off in most cases in this case. The more you create the weaker they are individually. For example in that A-ranked example

1 projectile = A-rank
2 projectiles = B-rank (individually)
etc, etc...

That was only an example, that wasn't an actual jutsu but you should get the point.

Do you know the ways in which Rank and power in jutsu are divided? Like ?-rank + ?-rank = ??-rank...

Ah, okay.
Umm, not really. Tho what I know is:
B Rank+B Rank= S Rank
C Rank+C Rank= A Rank
D Rank+D Rank= B Rank.
i.e. eg: An S Rank tech has chakra cost 40.
A B Rank tech has chakra cost 20.
So B Rank+B rank=S Rank.
Same applies for the others I've mentioned.

Good, now then I'm going to skip over the fourth and fifth methods since the former is self explanetory and is limited to about one or two techniques, I can explain that to you when you learn that. The latter is basically anything that doesn't fit into the above four so we'll get to those when we do.

Now the next two methods are Streams/Water Sources and Water Manipulation. Based on the names I can predict an area of confusion as I've had that happen with previous students when I was a senpai. However I want you to do the same as what you did for the first method: define, give the chakra construct of the method, and give 2 examples (only pick two for each). However, before you do that I want you to tell me the difference between these two methods or at least what you think the difference is.

Water Streams/Sources

Definition: Water Streams/Water Sources: In this method, the user can create his/her own water source out of nothingness. And, 'stream' means a continuous and directed flow of a liquid in a specific direction. So, based on that, Water Streams are water techs in which the user sends Water in form of a continuous body of water, i.e. it is guided.

Construction: The user first gathers up chakra, performs required handseals and focuses chakra in the air, and materializes a volume of water from nothingness. The advantage is that the user can perform techs that require water sources in an area like a desert too, as he creates his own water source. For Water streams, the user gathers chakra in the body, performs handseals and then manipulates it to spit out a continuous stream of water. However, he has to maintain focus on the technique until it's over, as it's continuous. It obviously has a greater force than a projectile, as it continues pushing forward. Once the projectile is emitted, it's direction can't be changed, however, the water stream is continuous, so it's direction can be changed, i.e. the user has the control over the tech.

Examples:
(Suiton No Jutsu) - Water technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary/Attack/Defence
Range: Short-Mid
Damage Points:20
Description: Creates small waves of water, small blasts, and small shields of water.

(Suiton: Suishōha) - Water Style: Water Shock wave
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Descripton: This technique allows the user after claping their hands together to make a spiralling vortex of water out of knowhere. The vortex then proceeds to explode from the top in the form of a wave. The user can also control the direction the wave goes with hand movements.

Water Manipulation

Definition: 'Water Manipulation' means manipulating the shape, form and texture of water. That is, chakra is sent to any water source, and then the user manipulates the surrounding water.

Construction: The regular. The user gathers up chakra, makes handseals and then sends his chakra into the surrounding water source, and then manipulates it to take it any form he wants. The advantage is that the user can form projectiles, streams and what not, i.e. the user takes advantage of the water around him to attack the enemy. However, it comes with a disadvantage. Every single tech in this method requires a water source.

Examples:
(Suiton: Suiben) - Water Release: Water whip
Rank: C
Type: Offensive, supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: After the user performs a series of 3 hand seals Rat → Dog → Ox, the user creates a whip of water that can be used to strike the opponent with a lashing action or wrap around the target to bind them. This technique can also have lightning techniques channeled through when they have bound their victim with the water whip.

(Suiton: Mizu No Tatsumaki) - Water Style: Water Tornado
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Descripton: Utilizes water to create a spinning water vortex around the ninja. The water acts both as a barrier and attack mechanism. The power of the vortex is enough to knock an opponent unconscious. Can only be performed if there is a water source near by.

For the first part you're correct. The steams and water sources are techniques that can create their own water source for small techniques or be used as a foothold to create a large body of water for future techniques that you'd use in next method, which is water manipulation. Now it doesn't necessarily matter what the medium is. There is even one technique that counts as a stream technique that creates a massive water source that the user spews out of his body. however you're correct on all other points. The D-ranked Water technique is too generic to really be used as and example but you're right about the second one. The disadvantage to this method is that when you use stream techniques, they're tied to you and you cannot use another technique while that one is still going. You'll need to release the technique if you're going to perform another, unlike with projectiles where, once they leave you, they're self sustaining.

As for the Water manipulation method you're correct again. These are all the techniques that deal with pre-conceived water sources and manipulating them by creating various shapes or even simple waves of water. All techniques in this method require a water source and some techniques may even have properties of the previous method meaning you may have to continuously focus your chakra into the technique as long as you intend to have it working as they are not all self sustaining. So there's always that duality of potential weakness. The first technique, water whip, is not a correct example and based on this I want you to tell me why

Didn't notice your reply. Got buried in the Subscribed threads. o_O

Hmm, voila! Water Whip is a projectile, however it is not created by manipulating an existing water source, correct?

Yep, read it. So, the user's chakra isn't tied to the technique in case of projectiles, once the projectile is emitted, whereas, in case of Water Streams/Manipulation, the user has to maintain focus over the technique, right?

Ah. -_-
I saw the picture of the jutsu on Naruto Wikia. z.z
It isn't a projectile, nor a stream.

You must be registered for see images

It's just a kind of a rope made up of Water.

Yes, exactly! It's neither and reading the description would help you understand that too....*sigh* I forget where we are. If we passed the first three methods. the only two left are Advanced conversions and other. The former only has one technique so no need to get deep into that before hand and the other one is a cluster****. So unless you have any questions (which I implore you to ask if you do) we'll get started with learning jutsu.

Yes we finished the first three methods.
Awesome. And apologies. When I replied last, I was on my phone, and didn't read the description correctly. I imagined a whip to be something else differently, I thought it was kind of a water infused rope wherein you hit your opponent like a lion tamer 'whips' the lion.

Anyways, one question: Does water have the destructive capability to kill an opponent? I mean not by drowning or suffocating. I mean like with pure force like Wind, where you can inflict slashes on the opponent. Can water be made that sharp so as to inflict slashes?
And no further questions.

There are quite a few water techniques that have the ability/potential to kill. Some water projectiles, the general speed and compressed power they have create concussive force that could be fatal. There is one projectile technique where the water is in the shape of a shark and is capable of shredding your opponent. compressed streams of water can cut through solid earth, I'm sure it could cut through flesh and bone as well. Also higher grade water techniques are much stronger in force and what not. While water itself is more of a drowning element it's just as dangerous as any of the other elements.

Alright. So water does inflict slashes and what not. I thought it didn't have that much raw power. I really did underestimate it, lol. No more questions. We can start the techs finally! 5 months of waiting! T_T

Let's start off with the basic technique. I train in a way that you don't have to perform the technique I post but you explain it and we go into a small discussion. Okay?

(Suiton No Jutsu) - Water technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary/Attack/Defence
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points:20
Description: Creates small waves of water, small blasts, and small shields of water.
Note: Doesn't require a water source but can be used to manipulate existing water.

Water Technique, a basic D-ranked technique which allows you to do virtually whatever you want with water. The description says waves, blasts, shields etc. but you can do more than that. Make an orb of water around your opponents head, trap his legs, arms, manipulate existing water to shoot yourself up, create a small water source etc. etc. The opportunities are endless.
