I know this sort of thread is getting old but please hear me out.
To be honest, when I first looked at Narutos' eyes, I, like everyone else thought it was the BSM. But now that I looked at a few comparisons, I'm not sure is it is at all.
1. The first obvious oddity is the lack of pigmentation around his eyes.
There has never been an instance when Naruto has used sage mode without there being any pigmentation around his eyes. Not to mention that sage mode takes time to gather natural energy, and yet Naruto was in sage mode so quickly just after returning from Obito's other dimention.
2. The second are his whisker marks and eyes. Throughout the whole manga, there has only been one time that I can remember when Naruto's eyes became slitted without his whisker marks ever changing. The fact that his whisker marks haven't changed at all puzzles me, since they do 90% of the time when Naruto uses the fox's chakra.
From what I understand; in the past, Naruto's eyes only ever became slitted when Kurama tried to influence Naruto with his chakra. But Kuramas' chakra alone doesn't change Naruto's eyes since there was no facial difference when Naruto took Kurama's chakra by force.
It's only along with Kurama's influence that Naruto's eyes become slits again whey they worked together to form the BCM.
Overall
I have my doubts that Naruto is actually using Kurama's chakra at all, or his natural SM, in the conventional sense at least; since there isn't any sort of chakra coat on him and no pigmentation around his eyes either. As others have said, I do assume that Naruto is using a new form of SM since he was able to kick away that black ball; which can destroy anything it touches, with the exception of sage mode techniques.
The only explanation I can think of, is that it's because Naruto now possesses chakra of all the tailed beasts. The Juubi's chakra was also described to be similar to Natural energy, which maybe why Naruto can now touch that black substance that Madara has. Another explanation as to why Naruto's eye are slitted maybe because Kurama's chakra is the largest amount he has inside of him out of all the other tailed beasts.
I might just be other thinking this, but next weeks chapter is gonna interesting if it proves I'm right or not.
