You wake up in a small room with cold wooden walls, without windows or doors. It is completely silent and the only sources of light you have are a few candles with matches to light them. In this otherwise empty room you find a table with the following objects on it: a pendulum, a rubber ball, a basketball, a bunch of clocks, some wooden planks, nails, a hammer, a glass of a clear fluid which seems to be water, a pencil and a sheet of paper. You feel disoriented and thus the first thing you want to do is figure out whether you are in a house or some moving container in a ship or train. Use and combine any of the utensils and determine whether you are moving or at rest.

As said, this should be relatively easy to answer nowadays but for any of you who don't immediately know the answer: Take your time, don't cheat (because the answer is easy to find online) and think.

i wil just pour some water on table and use the light of candles to observe it..even the slightest movement will cause vibrations in water..by this..i wil come to know..

Observe two clocks for a while. A few days should do. This will tell you how accurate they are, compared to each other. Place one clock on the floor, and one clock on the ceiling. Wait for many decades, or even centuries. Observe the amount of time each has counted. If you are on Earth, you will have to follow the curvature of the earth. Therefore, one clock has a higher velocity than the other. Factor out the difference in gravitational time dilation, and you will see whether there is a difference in reported time. If there is, you have been moving. If there isn't, you have been still.

Honestly though, even if you are remaining in state of constant motion, observing the water will tell you Even if it the smoothest train ride ever and with a ship you should be able to tell if you are moving straight away .... They tend to be rocky ._.
