I believe Naruto and Sasuke met Hagoromo for two purposes.

1. For them to get stronger.

2. For them to build tension.

As you can see, after getting Rinnegan, Sasuke looks down on everyone.

Well if it wasn't for Sasuke:

- Naruto would be hokage now.
- Sakura would kiss with Sasuke as we speak.
- And Kakashi would hang around with Obito and Rin.

If you are a sasuke fan you are among the stupid bunch...if you aren't then let me tell you the truth...
Sasuke has always...I mean always looked down upon everyone.
He was neither wrong nor right for saying those things.

They aren't useless, but aren't as useful either. Sasuke has always been arrogant and saying because he got rinnegan is stupid.

Why have his former teammates struggle when he knows that him and Naruto are the only ones that can do something? It's building tension yes but Sasuke is playing it smart. No need to get Kakashi and Sakura killed when he knows they can't amount to much at the moment anyway.

Dunno if it's just me but it looks like Sasuke is constantly checking up on Naruto.

I find it to be pretty weird but considering the situation, it fades out .

Sasuke is just being Sasuke, it's actually a little weird seeing him somewhat acknowledge that Naruto can do something without calling him a looser as well. I agree with whole tension building aspect though. Its chapters like this that puts me on the edge of wondering if him and Naruto will have one last fight before the series is over. Whatever it's over if they do fight again it will probably end in them settling any remainding differences, because it's obvious that the two don't see eye to eye 100% yet.

He doesn't look down on anyone more than he did when he has the regular Sharingan. He is simply being logical and trying to beat Madara/Kaguya, feeling aside. That is why he comes off as "cruel" or "mean" towards his teammates. He doesn't wanna waste time arguing so he tells them the honest truth.

There is definitely something off with Sasuke, this chapter shows that he is letting that power go to his head, but I think the Sage was more about introducing the backstory of Kaguya and the real purpose of IT and the power up.
