Background information:
Maternal deprivation

Defined as:
"In maternal deprivation syndrome, although the mother or other primary caregiver may appear concerned, the interplay and

physical contact normally seen between mother and infant may be absent or distorted."
Symptoms
Social problems including withdrawal, loneliness, loss of confidence, school problems, learning disorders, anxiety and

depression,[6][7] alcohol and drug abuse (particularly associated with mental illness), suicide or self-harming, theft and criminal

behaviour.
It's a fairly common but subtle theme in TG.

Arima: With regards to his interior.
Arima: He lacks assertiveness and his introverted nature makes him

antisocial.

Arima: And on top of that, he’s 'hungry for a mother-figure’.

Arima: So it was decided from the results obtained that his mentor should be a 'talented female investigator’.

Akira: Special Class Arima.
Akira: Do you think that I can satisfy the maternal role for another person?
Arima emphasizes the imperative need for a mother figure in Haise's life.

Conclusion: There is a symbolic lack of maternal care in Tokyo Ghoul.

Akira, the master of fake hugs and false parental figures. Seriously, there's no way she doesn't hate him for supposedly killing Amon. I'm betting she's just waiting for the perfect moment to strike, would be one hell of a scene when she shows her true colors and tries to kill Haise, that's for sure.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Wonderful thread as always, man.
