Not to start any debating rumbles but Sasuke is the main reason why Naruto failed to protect his daughter in the first place. If Sasuke had noticed that Shin setup a trap on his sword, Naruto wouldn't have been hurt which would of never resulted in Naruto's shield coming down.

Though before that scene, and afterwards. I think he did a fairly good job at protecting both Sarada and Chou Chou, not even going to bring up mental health either since that isn't the discussion.

OT; The movie and the Gaiden basically switched up Naruto/Sasuke's roles so obviously that would happen :lol

That's entirely the problem.

Naruto was doing fine protecting Sarada until Sasuke failed to notice the seal in Shin's hand despite being right in-front of it. I don't really see how I should blame Naruto, it's not his fault he and Sasuke were rusty due to not having serious competition for years resulting in them both having dulled out battle senses. But if you think for a second that I'm going to blame Naruto for a mistake that was caused when Sasuke was fighting Shin up close and personal than I'm seriously confused.

Plus, why would Naruto have his guard up when he allowed Sasuke to enter his Kurama shield? I don't believe Naruto would be entirely cautious of Sasuke's weapon or Sasuke at all, that's just an excuse.

And I wholeheartedly say this without blaming either of them in the scenario since both of them fall under the guidelines of not having a serious battle in such a long time. I'm not blaming Naruto for a mistake that he didn't make, and I'm not blaming Sasuke for something he couldn't prevent.
