What are some pros or cons for Rinne Tensei and Edo Tensei?
Does contract seal remove the users power over his edos? Because they're technically summons.
This remains speculation for the time being, but Madara seems suspiciously annoyed for a guy who was revived with an immortal body and limitless chakra, especially considering he knew the seals which would allow him to defy the jutsu [You must be registered for see links][You must be registered for see links][You must be registered for see links][You must be registered for see links][You must be registered for see links]. Perhaps, those revived with Edo Tensei cannot become Jinchūrikis, something which would threaten project Tsuki no Me. While specualtive, this is something to think about when discussing the possible weaknesses of Edo Tensei. I can't see any reason why Madara would rather be revived by Rinne Tensei - we don't even know how that jutsu brings you back other than it brings you back alive (would Madara have been revived as an old man?). Also, why didn't Obito simply revive Madara with the Rinnegan once Nagato had died? I mean, his chakra was boosted by Senju DNA. Perhaps Rinne Tensei has a cool down period like Kotoamatsukami? Maybe the technique is specific to the Uzumaki clan or those of pure Senju lineage? I don't know, just throwing stuff out there.
That is a lot of stuff i didn't think about, but edos can become jins, remember the jins Kabuto brought back as edos? Obito put the tailed beasts back into them... and added a sharingan and rinnegan, but that's just icing on the cake.![]()
Where they actually sealed into the Edos though? I always thought they were sealed into Gedō Mazō, with the chakra rods allowing them to be bound to the Jinchūriki :/
Edo Tensei:
Pros:
- Revived person is virtually immortal
- Can be fully controlled by the user of the technique
- Revived person has an unlimited amount of chakra and near unlimited staminia
- Any illnesses in life are seemingly negated. (Kimimaro & Itachi)
- Pretty much like causing a zombie invasion, and you controlling it.
- Revived person retains any permanent body damage and physical limitations they received during their lifetime. (Nagato)
- Upon revival they retain their personality, memories, and all abilities they had in life, including kekkei genkai, kekkei tōta and summoning contracts.
- Originally developed to allow the reincarnated to use devastating, and sometimes suicidal attacks in order to clear a battlefield.
- Edo Tensei will still be active even if the user is killed.
Cons:
- User must have the target's DNA beforehand to revive said person
- Requires a sacrifice
- Revived person can be sealed and rendered useless.
- Revived person does not have any unique weapons upon revival, and must be given to them (Seven Swordsmen of the Mist)
- Revived person is still vulnerable to the drawbacks from their own technique or weakness.
- Revived person can feel the person's chakra flowing through them, and Sensors are also able to decipher the actual source of the chakra that is manipulating them, even if the summoner is within the confines of a barrier. This is a potential disadvantage to the summoner, as a renegade summon that is no longer under their direct control may be able to locate them. (Itachi)
- The user can be put under a genjutsu and end up cancelling the technique himself against his will.
- Revived person can be freed if affected in some emotional way that gives them closure. This method will not work if personality is erased.
- Revived person can speak against the user or themselves by providing hints and advice to the opponents, even in the midst of involuntarily fighting them.
- Kotoamatsukami can free the revived by giving them an order overwriting the user's control, can be fixed with a new talisman
- If the Revived Person knows the specific seal, one can release summoning contract, severing the bond between themselves and the summoner. This leaves the individual effectively immortal with an unlimited amount of chakra, and the summoner has no control over the individual's mind and movements any longer, nor can the technique be deactivated on the said individual.
Rinne Tensei
Pros:
- Target is fully brought back to life.
- Does not require DNA nor sacrifices
- Can revive more than one person at a time.
Cons:
- Revived person is not under the user's control
- Revived person can die again.
- Consumes a large amount of chakra
