Zetsu's statement has been proven false as Manga has shown stronger and more powerful character the Itachi. Hashirama praised is Ninja resolve (not my fault you can't comprehend what he said), he said nothing of his power cause he don't know him, sasuke didn't even mention anything about Itachi's power which shows Hashirama wasn't even talking about strength. Just like konoha ninjas would have defeated pain before Naruto came if they new his secret and where Nagato was. Konohamaru defeated a path so he's stronger then them, that's you're logic. Itachi was a thorn in Obito's side nothing else.

By actually showing characters who are more powerful then him. Juubi Jinchuuriki Madara and Obito, Naruto RSM, Sasuke with the Rinnegan, Kaguya, Toneri, Momoshiki and Kinshiki, 8 Gate Guy. Hell if Naruto and Bee weren't there to back him up against the fight with Nagato chibaku tensei would have sealed him up, as he didn't have the fire power to actually destroy the Jutsu. Even against Kabuto if it weren't for sasuke (and the plot no Jutsu izanami coming out of kishis arse) he would have lost to Kabuto. I ain't saying he's weak but the only thing Itachi has going for him is a "statement" (that was proven false) and hype.

Itachi didnt die while using Totsuka and Yata. He died due to Bacteria. In battle he is invincible because no one can touch him. Its a mangafact
