He didn't say physically equal, he just said equal. Do you really think Taijutsu matters that much in the larger scale? If they fought again, most of the fight would be them throwing fireballs and rasengans and chiders at one another repeatedly, not to mention the chakra avatars. Yes, their last fight came down to Taijutsu, but how often did that really happen when the god tiers clashed in the final arc of the manga? But yes, if it DID come down to Taijutsu again, the two handed Naruto would beat the crap out of handicapped Sasuke. He's considered the body and Sasuke the eyes for a reason.

You misunderstand completely, naruto and sasuke as equals occurs at their fullest strength which IS susanoo and asura avatar, Naruto as it stands has better stamina and chakra capacity meaning he can out stand sasuke.

No I think you misunderstand it means in the complete sense that's why Sasuke has preta path to counter if need be. Also the Uchiha have stronger chakra even if they don't have a larger quantity.
