While fighting Danzo Sasukes Susanoo activated even when Sasuke was under Danzos bind, Danzo's sword was an inch away from Sasuke when Susasnoo activated itself. Like Obito said, the Susanoo protects its host.
There are two theories that are possible, one: Sasuke HIMSELF did not want Susanoo to activate (it's part of his and Hashiramas plan)
Or that it's a Zetsu clone or a Hashirama wood clone.

It wasn't a zetsu clone or hashirama's wood clone because they don't know how to use amateratsu, and for the other part of ur theory sasuke was not in control of his body at the time he was going to attack madara, u can tell by his face expression and his face expression and him cussing at the last page of the chapter he also dropped his sword because he couldn't move

Madara could see the difference between the clones with EMS, and so he does with Rinnegan. Once he arrived at the battlefield against Naruto,Gai & Kakashi he stated that Naruto was also a clone, Madara is not a fool lol.

Sasuke can indeed make clones.

He just doesn't choose to. Although Madara has Rinnegan he would have probably said something :|

Its not a wood clone either....Madara said he can see through that a few chaps back :|

Its not genjutsu....and its definitively not Sasuke.

I mean if it is Sasuke he isn't dead. Its just a sword. He got stabbed with wind chakra and it went through him.

Ya kinda agree, I think the jutsu Hashirama gave him is to suck the Sagemode from Madara, and therefor sasuke needed somehow physical contact. But again doubt it. can't wait for next week D
