Naruto is not intelligent in terms of strategies prior to the battle however during combat it's a different story. Here's some examples.

Naruto is very battle smart, hence the reasons listed in the original post. There are feats that he's accomplished in battle and outside but relating to battle that measure up to geniuses of the series, hence why the other geniuses acknowledge him and his strength, because that's where he excels. That's what makes him a genius in his own right. To be honest, most of the characters in the series could be considered geniuses with this perspective, since most have feats relating to their own personal accomplishments and goals.

He has his smart moments but again he's not a genius. Sakura fits the genius part more than Naruto.

Also It's completely different to actually create a jutsu and just continuing it further.

When someone debates "genius" in regards to Naruto, I think of intellect; being able to carefully analyze and coordinate a strategy on the spot in a constantly changing fight. For that reason, Shikimaru is a genius, Itachi is a genius, and Sasuke (at least pre-MS) is also a genius in that regard. Naruto is quick to learn, no question about that. He has a unique ability that allows him to grasp the concept of something and through hard, dedicated work, he's able to master it faster than anyone else. So in that sense, he's gifted, but I still wouldn't say a genius. He still is reckless, and charges into fights without plans. He was the only person to fail every single written test (no academic smarts), not that academic smarts are crucial in a fight exactly, but it shows his mentality in a fight: a mentality that puts him at a serious disadvantage.

The problem is not that part of the response, it was the part where you said "Just because you have some monster inside of you it makes you a genius?", although that was not the subject matter of the thread. It was not about him having Kurama inside of him, but about the feats he was able to accomplish with Kurama working against him.

You are only mentioning feats,it's not like there are manga panels that prove you otherwise. But in the end Naruto is smart in battle and that also comes in a flash of the moment. He definitely isn't in the same category as Itachi,Sasuke,Neji and even Kakashi. He never was a genius prodigy. He is like Lee,a hard worker.
