Prometheus Sequal or Prequal?

I personaly think that it might be remake of whole Alien movies. Adding more depth to the plot, space jockeys eh :shrug:

Already seen the movie and I can say it deffinately is a prequel to Alien. Its a film worth watching if you're a sci-fi fan and have an open mind.

I was looking this up when I first saw the Prometheus trailer and apparently, according to Scott, Prometheus takes place before Alien, but isn't tied with the franchise


"A script by Spaihts acted as a prequel to the events of the Alien films, but Scott opted for a different direction to avoid repeating cues from those films. In late 2010, he brought Lindelof onto the project to rewrite Spaihts' script, and together they developed a separate story that precedes the story of Alien but is not directly connected to that franchise. According to Scott, though the film shares "strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak", and takes place in the same universe, Prometheus will explore its own mythology and ideas."

Prometheus is tied to aliens, its about how Xenomorphes were created. I am happy with this because it throws a loop in the AVP continuity. How could aliens exist on ancient Earth when they don't start existing until after the events of Prometheus?

About Aliens. In Aliens vs Predator they stated that Aliens are infact originaly from Earth

But in Prometheus again I see that those Aliens have theyr own space ship.....

If I'm not mistaken they don't reference anything of the sort. Only that the Predators used humans to spawn their "ultimate prey". They could have found the Aliens from another world and used Earth as their hunting ground

I haven't seen Prometheus yet but the entire continuity of the Alien and AVP seem off. Ridley Scott specifically said that Prometheus comes before Alien, but is not connected to that franchise. I don't think we should try too hard to make sense of the timeline :shrug:
